NEW SCHEME UNDER SOCSO
The Self-Employed Employment Injury Scheme for self-employed taxi drivers or individuals carrying out similar services took effect on 13 June 2017. This social protection was accorded under the provisions of the Self Employment Social Security Act 2017.
The duration of protection is 12 months from the date and time the contribution is paid and validated by the payment receipt.
SELF EMPLOYED EMPLOYMENT INJURY SCHEME
SOCSO provides protection scheme for self-employed taxi drivers or individuals carrying out similar services under the Self Employment Social Security Scheme.
This Scheme provides protection to self-employed insured persons from employment injuries including occupational diseases and accidents during work-related activities.
This Scheme also provides cash benefits to taxi drivers and their dependants besides providing medical care, physical rehabilitation and vocational training.

SCOPE OF COVERAGE AND IMPLEMENTATION
Eligibility of Taxi Drivers or Individuals Offering Similar Services
* Malaysian citizen/Permanent Resident
* Registered with JPJ, related agency or LPKP (Sabah and Sarawak)
* A valid driver's licence
* Taxi Driver’s Card/Valid Authorisation Letter issued by related agency or LPKP or E-Hailing (Sabah and Sarawak)
Benefits under the Scheme
* Medical Benefit
* Temporary Disablement Benefit
* Permanent Disablement Benefit
* Constant Attendance Allowance
* Dependants' Benefit
* Funeral Benefit
* Education Benefit
* Facilities for Physical and Vocational Rehabilitation, and Return to Work Programme (RTW)
To Register
* Online registration (web-based) via iPERKESO portal
* Documents needed are as follows:
a) Having active mobile phone number and an email;
b) Upload a valid driving licence; and
c) Upload a valid taxi driver’s card issued by related agency or Letter of Authorisation from LPKP (Sabah and Sarawak)
Payment of Contribution
* Payment made online only through internet banking for a coverage of one year
* Payment procedures are as follows:
a) Complete the iPERKESO registration process
b) Choose payment via Financial Process Exchange (FPX)
c) Print the receipt as a proof of payment
SCHEDULE OF CONTRIBUTIONS
The contribution is based on options of insurable earnings, which rate is 1.25% from monthly income.

2. RM1,550. RM232.80
3. RM2,950. RM442.80
4. RM3,950. RM592.80
