What is haptics touch?
*
haptic touch is just what apple calls their tactile feedback from touch recognition. diff than 3D touch cause its primarily doesnt require the pressure sensitive panel

eg. you hold on the flashlight button long in the command center, then it prompts with more options for brighter or dimmer flashlight. the taptic engine inside will vibrate to give you the feedback that you are holding on a button long for options

Just tested the touch light function, press and hold the button it will response you the vibrate and simultaneously with more function e.g from dimmer to brightest

So this function called haptic touch?
*
not really on the more options/functions side, but its the vibration feedback that you get from pressing the buttons. thats the haptic feedback

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haptic_technology

like for eg typing on keyboard vs touchscreen. keyboard depress and have a sound when pressed, that teaches our sensory organs to see, feel and hear that its being pressed. that is called tactile feedback. on a touchscreen, its a flat LCD/OLED screen, so how do devs give you the feedback when something is being pressed? thats where apple's taptic engine comes in to tell your hand what is being done by vibrating in diff frequencies or timings

XR would be perfect 11/10 if the phone width is abit lesser, somewhere to the point i can grip and type it one handed

but its a damn good phone, i now understand why apple will never release a 5.8" XR, it WILL cannibalise the XS so much

I see in fb ppl bashing XR saying the screen resolution same as IP5. Is it true? XR cannot display 1080p?
*
itll just downscale to the phone's native resolution

no difference than people on lower than 1080p monitors who load 4k videos

Horizontal or vertical crack? If horizontal crack, probably due to flexing.

Have you brought it to a service centre to try your luck?
*
yeah just got back from machines

they insist its "just a scratch" and cannot claim warranty

they told me to qualify as a "crack", it has to be until touchscreen not functioning >_>

u dun have tempered glass on rite? likely it is a scratch. laminated display is Super easily to get scratches. So first thing when you get a phone, tempered glass is a must to install before even start using it.
*
yeah no tempered glass so probably? one way to find out is that scratch usually wont spread, but if its a crack it will sad.gif

my ip6 since launch without any screen protector, theyre full with microscratches but never one like my current XR which i can feel if i run my finger over it

all the more buggered is that i kept nothing else inside same pocket as phone hmm.gif

The difference between a hairline crack and a scratch is very noticeable. If possible, maybe go to a different service centre and get a second opinion, perhaps Switch or MacCity.
Price wise, it’s a bargain. RM3699 for a flagship when that amount cant even get you a 128GB iPhone XR at RRP. Apple needs to wake up. As for the phone’s performance, errr, I’ll let you know after I test it laugh.gif
*
yeah i was thinking to go to another one to ask. for me scratches you cant feel it on finger

but cracks are definitely noticeable on finger

QUOTE(jumpstat @ Feb 22 2019, 09:01 AM)
Yup, usually if major crack screen, lcd may be affected. Hope its just  a scratch.
Somehow or rather, androids doesn't agree with me. I like simple things, nothing complicated.
*
thats the worst case scenario, and i hope didnt kena

let's not talk about 8+ first.....i have tested my XR camera against my fren's X and it was lowlight condition in uncle don's at 8pm....the results of the XR is way nicer than X, even she agrees that the sensor used in XR is ahead of X whereby the the pic becomes more sharp details with the XR.
*
i think this is the SmartHDR coming into play

took a pic of a group against sun recently, the 8+ pic is just a dark mess

using my XR with SmartHDR, it manages to expose our faces yet correctly underexpose the bright sun behind

You can always downgrade your XS Max back to XR smile.gif
Yes, many reviewers agree the Smart HDR feature makes a substantial difference between this generation's iPhones Vs the last in terms of photography : thumbs:
*
yep, one of the main reason i jumped to XR instead of buying X or XS. its amazing

what you see on cam is literally what you snap. very few android phones can do the same

Sorry bro, not a gamer. Was once into Candy Crush and Angry Birds, but I grew out of it laugh.gif
Ya, I don't charge overnight as well. Using my 12W iPad charger with an auto-disconnect Baseus cable. It charges slow, but it gets the job done and turns off the charging automatically a few minutes after the phone is fully charged.
*
interesting, i use the 12W ipad charger and i find it pretty fast

ofc its not as fast as true fast charging, but for its price, its as good as it gets biggrin.gif

True fast charging PD adapter+cable can get for around 80. Still much cheaper compared to 12w ipad charger
*
indeed, but its ex to get proper apple cables :/

i dont really trust 3rd party cables yet, unless theyre MFI certified

No issues. MFI just one tactic from Apple to suck from oem manufacturers.
PD and normal charging like sky and earth difference
*
yeah its just me i guess

i mean these high power charging cables have potential to ruin our devices :/

Soo.... here's the full story

16/4 - bough my new iphone xr, received it via parcel and activated warranty. BUT, i didn't the plastic that was covering the screen - since i didn't have time to play around yet.

17/4 - went to shop to apply TP, noted the defect. contacted seller / Apple advisor from Apple.com that night, both asked to go to nearest service centre and get a replacement

18/4 - went to the curve Machines, after had a chat with the guy over the counter, he mentioned that eventho the phone is under warranty, since only the screen defect, they'll only change the screen, not applicable in Malaysia for 1-1 exchange (wtf, i had to raise my voice inside..zz).

So i surrendered the phone and straight call Apple Malaysia, told them what happened with some explaination. (Of course laa tak puas hati.. the defect was out of the box.. not even use it yet).

So Apple told me to wait on Monday (since Singapore holiday also on Good Friday) for the news...

22/4 - received call / email from Apple that i'm entitled for a new phone and to wait for the replacement. Received the UPS courier tracking no ( tracking from Singapore to ShenZhen.. and back to Malaysia straight away)

24/4 - my phone arrived and Machine call me to pick up the phone. (yay)

25/5 - Picked up my new iphone and i'm also allowed by Apple to keep the old box with all the stuffs (thx Apple!). And my phone also now is MY set instead of SG set with warranty restarted from 16/4 --> 24/4.

Well I'm very glad to have my new phone and i'm very thankful to Apple for listening and taking it professionally with my problem.
