Hey guys, I am looking at getting a new iPhone as my secondary phone.

I am using Note 9 as my primary and an iPhone 5 as my secondary phone.
Currently the iPhone 5 is kinda bloated up, suspecting it is due to the battery.
Also I am missing out on updates with the 5, so I am considering to upgrade to perhaps XR or maybe to a 7.

Hope to hear some thoughts from you guys the regular iPhone users. I am interested to keep my secondary phone as compact as possible and I have no need for a telephoto lens.

I feel the quality of the camera is somewhat important to me, because I might want to use it to shoot simple vacation photo using my gimbal (the Note is too cumbersome to frequently use on a gimbal) and also some gimbal software are better on the iOS than Android. Hence the consideration of the latest camera, the XR.

Should I get the 7 or perhaps wait a bit more and get the XR later (when the newer iPhones are announced/launched)? Apple should be launching some new stuff soon, no?

Haha, if a new iPhone 7 is like RM1k or below RM1k like those cheapo China phones, then it is a no brainer.

"New" iPhone 7 32GB on Machine Clearance sales also need RM1.8k

A new iPhone 7 128GB by Switch is RM2k.

If I renew my Digi mobile plan contract with phone (just expired), iPhone 7 128GB is RM1.6k (provided if Digi still has stock) vs iPhone XR 128GB is RM3.3k

Secondhand in Garage sales also need RM1k+ for a no warranty iPhone7 (and god knows used for how long dy).


Yeah, going to look only at the XR now.


My main driver will always be my Note 9. Just that I must admit that some apps are better in iOS (and not available on Android).
I will look at Digi if they have any deals. They had one during CNY, so I think/hope they will do another soon.

The Apple event seems disappointing. Nothing really useful for consumers, or at least for us Malaysians.

Interesting. I wonder if they will do it for other countries as well to boost up their sales to please their investors.
