I've seen equal number of those who don't care and those who are particular about eating in cars, regardless of what food it is.

Not so much a rule, but common courtesy lah to ask for permission.
It's most likely the drivers personal vehicle and he's particular about cleanliness.

If you asked and he was rude, you have every right to be pissed off.

If you didn't ask and started eating then he told you off, equal blame on both parties.. him for being rude, and to you TS for not being considerate/courteous enough to ask first.

2nd question , is parking fees need to pay by passenger ?

of coz.....any entrance fee or toll need to be pay by the passenger

Grab is driver's own private car, so of course they will be more careful not to let ppl eat. Some people eat like nobody's business and wipe here and there making the car dirty, although some will be more careful and make sure food doesn't spill. Try do that in a taxi and you see what happen.
Any aditional fee like tol, parking, entrance fee etc, passenger have to bear. That's the price for cheaper transport.

if u dirty driver car = indirectly messing his livelihood (low rating)

be a more considerate rider la. we not working for charity. will make our day if the rider is compassionate.

No offense, so far only certain race will eat directly without asking at all. And of course always some left over on my car seats...

nah, eating with cautious, if passenger make dirty , passenger will clean it , your assumption is if passenger make it dirty, then grab driver can complain it.

some driver do not charge for some fees, only tolls, i had to assume it is free sometimes.

If uber they will charge passenger for cleaning fee

last time i eat potato chips in a bus and get scold by bus driver and say smell is strong

dahell chips so smelly one?? unless I put it in front of my nose I just can smell the salty smell from it, how dahell he smell it from that far, i was sitting at rear of bus.

agreed, it's a common rules in all public transport, eat/drink is not allowed.

your assumption is wrong, eating or drinking is totally not allowed , you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that actually...and i highly doubt people with your mentality will eat with cautious or clean up, driver do charge other fees other than tolls, eg: cleaning fee: RM200-300 (i did that before and Grab allowed it) , entrance fee to certain establishment like KTM Padang Jawa,( as pick up inside is exclusive to taxis only, that place kena Pau d) , waiting time fee, change destination fee and many more

Haha i guess what we learned today is when facing taxi driver they shrink balls but when riding grab haaa do all they like 2 hearts content as if he is personal driver

In taxi: Driver voice, rider complain... wait they complain to who ah? Their community so strong, complain also useless. Both also won't get banned. Next time new customer or new driver.

In conclusion, eating in the car is as bad as smoking or cutting your toenails in the car. Most riders that come in with shopping bags even I will ask them if there are any fish or wet groceries. Letting me know in advance allows me to mitigate the situation in preparation for next rider. Imagine if you enter a car that smells like dog poo or salted fish. I would like to see you enjoy your bread in that situation. May have a different problem then, may need to clean up your puke.

not to be rude or racist, but the most insensitive rider are those Africans, common things they always piss us driver off is
1. long wait time
2. multiple drop off without using the app (i'd waited 20min before, my bad should just straight reject them)
3. eat and drink and sometime just left their leftover food in car
4. talk so loud like no body business
5. always ask us avoid police (fishy)
6. always ask us "where are you"
7. like to show direction which takes longer time like they are local
8. like to give RM50/100 note for RM6 ride (sometime give us coins...alamak)

Not sure about such rules but I think it's common courtesy to ask the driver if you can eat or drink in their vehicle. Especially since they are using their own private car.

todei kena 1 rider bring in drink in starbuk cup.. i no kisah.. but she drink finsh left ice..tertumpah all ice on the floor... lucky she pandai pick it up...

Not only eating in someone's car is rude.

How about someone cutting her finger nails inside your car? Yes. that happened to me (long time ago, before Grab introduced Passenger rating system). Of course I didnt want to sound her immediately (and it was an elderly Indian woman BTW)

I took a photo of the finger nails she left on my car seat and some on the carpet , and send it off to Grab.
Then I don't know what happened next lah.

I have also encountered Banglas just finish smoking upon my arrival at pickup point , even when he got into my car I could smell the cigarette smell. Of course I politely said to him - "bang, kamu hisap rokok tadi ya? I bukak tingkap sekejap" and he agreed.

I think even you take a Taxi also need to have some courtesy to ask whether can eat or not in his car/taxi.

For TS, how would you feel if you enter a Grabcar and find food crumbs and greasy stains on the seats and doors left by the previous riders?

Grab does not have a rule on eating in cars. They leave it to the drivers' discretion. Whether the driver owns or rents the car, he is responsible for it, so he has the right to decide if eating is allowed or not.

worst i kena is drunk mypren spill half his beer on the rear seat

and another one early morning 6am, eating roti canai at the back seat and left curry stain on the seat which i only realized after the next rider got in.

Once I had a Negro rider with KFC takeaway. I saw her take out the fried chicken to eat and I immediately stopped her. I didn't scold her, just told her eating not allowed in my car. She felt indignant and challenged me, why she cannot eat? She paid to use my car to go to her place, so she can do what she wants, that's what she said. Hearing that I got fed up and threatened to kick her out if she doesn't stop eating. Only then did she stop and put away her fried chicken. She thinks she pay and become dai sai.
