Boost in Finance section? I thought it will remain in /k because they don't want to move here? Anyway it's about time to have proper discussion here. smile.gif

How about other popular e-wallets like Fave, GrabPay and TnG e-wallet? Somebody should open too, I think currently Boost, Fave, GrabPay, TnG and WeChat Pay are the popular ones in Malaysia. hmm.gif
*
QUOTE(fruitie @ Nov 25 2018, 04:54 PM)
Yeah, makes sense. I haven't been visiting that thread so if it has e-wallet discussion, then we do not need a duplicate topic.

Back to this topic, I haven't been using Boost for some time. Missing the 50% cash back deal. sad.gif
*
iirc, hye did mention on ewallet TS to apply for topic creation. not sure the progress nowadays since few ewallet are getting off the ground with active discussions and promotions from emoney issuers.

e.g.

Boost, previously in /kopitiam, now in here thumbup.gif
TNG eWallet, slowly taking traction, currently lightly discussed in TNG Card topic
WeChat MY, already in progress here
BigPay in CC thread, some see it as either ewallet or prepaid card
GrabPay, little to none discussion. Fave, not sure if it's even considered as ewallet at all

should mods/admin create subforum for all ewallet discussions or keep as individual ewallet topics; either in Finance subforum or in CC subforum hmm.gif

Was gonna tag hye but gotta wait for the TS from V1 to close his Boost thread first, but thanks anyways. biggrin.gif

Also, BigPay is definitely not an e wallet, but more to a prepaid card issuer.

Favepay is more to mobile payment, but I guess can be related with e wallet cuz it's using similar kind of payment method by scanning the QR code, just that it deducts directly from our cards which is similar to Samsung Pay.
*
I saw v1 already closed.

also fave doesnt seems to store monetary value, just cc bypass. not really true ewallet. agreed, more like payment app.

No way. You can't even use any Fave promo code and enjoy cashback if pay with Fave credits.

While Boost and T&G apps, you can use cashback to pay and earn cashback.
*
there are differences between open-loop and close-loop mobile payment apps/systems.

those with close-loop is whereby the "money" and earned cashback/reward must be used for its own (merchant-specific). e.g. starbucks reward card. nobody called it ewallet. reason is you reload into it, use within sbux, and earn rewards within sbux too. you cannot use sbux credit for other things. iinm, fave and lazada wallet is the same. fave charge via cc passthrough. the new petronas setel app is the same too, can only use to pump at petronas, nothing else.

those truly ewallet is whereby it's open-loop, the credit/rewards can be used outside of its own domain/ecosystem. e.g. boost, tng ewallet, grabpay etc.

Hi, can anyone advise how to terminate boost ? I'd installed and register but didn't seems to be using it, so decided to terminate this. Aside from uninstalling from phone (apps), what is needed to terminate boost account ?

Thank you.

I see... biggrin.gif

But shouldn't they name the section as "E wallet" or "Mobile payment" instead?
*
probably tesco need time to change the software and dont want to reinvest much into it laugh.gif

anyhow, for tesco terminal, there are 3 options: [Cash] [Debit/Credit Card] [Coupon]

choose [Debit/Credit Card] and let the GHL scanner scan your qr code.

so far, the terminal seems buggy and not always work reliably.

Let's say I need to withdraw RM3,000 from Boost.
Do I have to do completed the 1st withdrawal of RM1500 before the system allows for the next RM1500 ?
If I withdraw RM1500, I should have minimum in my Boost balance of RM1502.00 ?
*
which is why you can only withdraw up tp rm1498 so that total is 1498 + 2 = 1500 max wallet size

back-2-back withdrawal, never tried.

just wondering about this .... how do Boost determine the "success"?

1) fund tansferred?
2) "yellow pie" icon changed to "green tick" icon?<-- this would take a few days to get updated after fund transfer though.

What i did was to use bank accounts from 2 different banks for withdrawal. One for each day.
*
thanks for sharing the tips.

so, looks like the "lock" is by bank account #, not at boost-account level.

Since their terminal is CIMB, and it supports e wallet, the scanner should probably be GHL like the one in Tesco I guess?

Other e wallets should be supported soon.

*
all integration is done by GHL, they've been actively integrating with ewallet players into their system, so that their POS merchants "instantly" gets connected to variety of ewallet. without GHL's part, each merchant need to integrate directly with each ewallet, which is tedious, time consuming, etc.

QUOTE(Neptern @ Nov 29 2018, 07:22 AM)
I think bnm or the government should take more action to encourage mobile payment usage. Thought we already have a unified qr code in place like in Singapore?
*
sometime next year. this year is early stage of ICTF which encompasses few payment initiatives.

duitnow is actively promoted because banks are "forced" to go live by year 2018 laugh.gif

She told me because not banked in next day and that's why might have cashflow problem for small hawkers like them. Well she's not the most IT savvy so she might be wrong.

Also said boost system always down and stuff. Hard to confirm what she said. Any business owners can confirm?
*
not same-day settlement. either T+1 or the usual T+2. if boost late process payment (eg after 5pm), then +1 more business day to "see" the money.

this only happens on first few days of business. on subsequent days, seller still get money in their acct, but for past 1-2 days' sales, but perceived as "daily".

most sellers don't like ewallet because of this as they prefer cash for material purchase which is also in cash term.

Right i see what you mean. Getting the small hawkers to accept e wallets as alternative will not be easy.
*
now zero MDR/fee "promo" + incentive to use. still ok. just need to learn to use and acceptance.

once boost begin to charge MDR/fee, small hawkers definitely won't like it.

payment advice email is just "FYI", it could be sent late, sent by maybank2e since boost using m2e bulk transfer.

it's still subjected to any rejection from m2e too.
