My first and only phone, HTC One M7, which is over 5 years old cannot be salvaged anymore. I'm planning to get a new one, and my choice is Mi8. I've never bought gadgets online. What's your experience buying phones from Lazada? I'll be buying from their official store on Lazada, but what are the first few things I need to check immediately once the phone arrives? Also, my SIM card in my old phone is microSIM, which won't fit in Mi8. Do I need to get a new SIM card? Sorry if my questions are silly, I'm not a techie.

Things to check 1. Ask seller if it is sealed unit or open box. Some seller open the box for inspection and warranty activation. 2. Check if it really the product you ordered (color, storage, RAM etc). 3. Check if warranty already activated, make sure it within acceptable date. If not activated, make sure it can be activated. 4. Check for authenticity. I think Mi has website for this. 5. Check all accessories is in the box and working. 6. Check for functionality. Manufacturer usually have a test mode when you can test functionality.
For the micro-SIM you can go to your telco service center (not agent) and change for a new one. Newer SIM should be able support all three sizes (3 in 1). In my case, it is free with Celcom and Maxis.
If you live far away from service center, shop/agent can help you cut the micro-SIM into nano-SIM size. They may charge some fee for the service.
