are you currently using a Mac (OSX) or PC (WinXP/Vista)?

If you are using a Mac, u can refer to FAQ for DS

I bought this device abt 1 month ago, as it's stated on the website and packaging:
1) NDS;
2) OSX;

However, after purchasing it, and I couldn't get it worked.

you can read my story HERE.

Then I sold it to another friend, which intends to get a WiFi connection for his NDSL via WinXP. However, we can't get it done successfully too 2nite, it could be both of us noob in networking~lah ( blush.gif ).

However, I've wrote an email to Planex SG/TW and amdsb.com.my.

hope fully they'll get back to me soon.

Woops. It's a USB Dongle, silly me.

So that means it should have a program or some sort.

Hmm. I think it should be put your DS's MAC address into the program so that the DS is able to connect.

Finally, I managed to get it work, using my GF's Dell Laptop.

-----------------

How to set up GW-US54Mini2G for DS

user posted image

note: Please make sure you have your PC/laptop's WiFi disabled, before starting.

1) Driver
Download the latest driver from Planex:
http://www.planex.net/download/wireless/gw-us54mini2.htm

don't use the driver from the CD, as I believed that version is buggy.

2) Installations
Please refer to the User's Manual... and take note on the following:

Chapter 2
#1. ...
...
#4. choose "Planex Configuratiohn Tool";
#5. choose Optimize for performance mode";

3) Configurations on [B]GW-US54Mini2[/b]
  • Look for the "PCi" icon at Taskbar;

    user posted image

  • Right click and select "Switch to AP Mode"

    user posted image

  • Once you "Switch to AP Mode", you should see the utility pop up below.
    Here you have to set your "SSID" to any name of your choice.

    user posted image
    1. by default, it's "planexuser";
    2. Clicking on "Auth. vs Security" will allow you to configure the security. This step is optional.
  • If you choose to set the security, kindly configure according to the following:

    user posted image
    password = can be any 5 alphanumeric characters, e.g. AB123;

  • There's another window that pop up when you "Switch to AP Mode", i.e. Internet Connection Sharing with SoftAP - an ICS bridging for the software AP.

    user posted image
    1. Select the "name" of your Ehternet Adapter;
    2. Click "Enable ICS";
  • Done.
  • 4) Configurations on NDSL
    To test the WiFi connection, turn on your NDSL with any games that have WiFi capability.
    user posted image

    The easiest NDS game to configure/test your WiFi settings, would be Mario DS Kart.

    Just go to the WFC Setup screen, and choose "Search for an Access Point", and it shall be able to pick up/recognise the signal, from your PC/Laptop automatically.

    However, if you are not sure what to do, kindly refer to:
    1) Planex - http://www.planex.net/support/list/NDS-support.htm; OR

    2) The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Insturction Booklet that comes with the game;

    DISCLAIMER Don't PM me, if you can't get this work, 'cos I no longer own this device, and I don't use a Windows I can't help you. What I know it's all listed here. icon_rolleyes.gif

    Open Command Prompt under Start > All Programs > Accessories.

    In the terminal, type:
    CODE

    ipconfig /all

    It should look like this..

    C:\<from any folder>\ipconfig /all

    Once you've done that, look under IP address and you'll find it.

    yes, ALL-IT Hypermart has it.

    yes, you can use it for your house with no wirless router, when you have only streamyx and only 1 PC connected to it.

    However, please take note so far there were mixed review+experience with this device.

    Some claimed it's hard to configure and get it worked... for me, it's almost plug & play... see my tutorial above.

    [disclaimer]
    Please DO NOT PM me, as I no longer own the device, 'cos I can go online using my Mac with no problem.
    What I know are all posted here.

    all the best!

    i have problem using this on my vista pc..
    during the installation, it doesn't have the option page for me to choose whether I wan it "optimize for performance" or "optimize for wifi-mode"

    and I have a rather simple configuration tool compare to those described in the manual and as posted in the previous post..

    why so?
    I installed the latest version downloaded from the website
