Asus laptop...the infamous overheat issues.
Your laptop switch off itself is because there is a BIOS setting that let the laptop goes off without actually overheated.
Open the lower part of the laptop and use blower to blow off the dust..I will use vacuum cleaner to suck the dust but it is not recommended. Or send it to pc repair shop to let them clean it for you, apply some fresh new heat-sink compound between the heat-sink and processor.

Asus X555L (I also turn off all background processes) Try do a factory reset to default on the BIOS/UEFI, there's a features we called "Auto Power-On" or "Scheduled Power On". It might be root cause. And as others have suggested, do a spring cleaning yourself or sent it to an IT Shop to do it for you.

"nothing to hack". you sure ? crypto mining, keylogging, botnet etc2. but in your case, it could be a hardware issue. quite hard to troubleshoot a laptop really. best you can check is, switch it on and check the temperature. and if you're adventurous enough, can try to open up your laptop and do a cleanup (replace thermal paste, clear off those nasty dust)

Remove the bottom cover, clean the laptop wit canned air and try to run it without the cover (on safe surface) for a while to see if it's really because of overheating.

If it turns off by itself, most people would usually attribute it to overheating. But you can check the power button or the power button's cable and connector so see if there's anything wrong with it. If there's shorting between the metal contacts, it sends the on/off signal to your mobo. Maybe pull of the power switch cable for the moment and use a jumper switch to turn on your PC for the moment to see if it's really caused by the power button
Either that or the PSU issue if you have enabled "Boot up on power loss" settings in your BIOS. Maybe disable that setting first and see if your PC still turns on automatically

Asus X555L (I also turn off all background processes) Hi, there got a setting in BIOS/UEFI called "Restore on AC/Power Loss", "After AC Power Failure". This could be caused by the power issue of your laptop.
