Hi,

I am a foreigner and consider hiring a full time/live in helper for my elderly mother in Penang.
She is not sick or ill but just old and cannot walk much so it is mainly to assist with meal, toilet and this sort of things

How difficult is it to find a suitable, well trained helper ?
What could be the cost ?

Thanks

Thank you,
Actually it is not really a nurse that is needed as she does not really need permanent medical supervision. It is more a live-in home care helper for hygiene assistance, meal preparation/Diet monitoring, light housekeeping in my mother's condo, errands and shopping, joyful and companionship when family is not around.

Good help is hard to find. Will communication be an issue? It's best if you search for a not too elderly neighbour nearby to help out and then pay her.

If you do hire a full time helper, I think it might be wise to install a CCTV in the living room, just in case. To know what's going on. Full time, most probably at least 2-3k, I think.

Good luck!

Old folks home abroad or in Malaysia is really what I want to avoid.
Not very encouraging but I see your points, thanks a lot.
Will have to find another solution then.

i think you are asking too much here. you as the son will not be able to fulfill those criteria. unless you are willing to hire 2 maid to accomplish it.

Anyone else think the conversation here is suspiciously like dupes promoting a website? Looks like they are also active in another topic about care givers for kids. hmm.gif

Suddenly so many Caregiver clients decided to register in LYN and give good reviews. What a coincidence! laugh.gif I was considering their services but suddenly all this hardselling make me change my mind
