QUOTE(cooldude17 @ Nov 26 2018, 09:55 AM) Why most movie critics loathe this movie ? I think viewers critics really different than the movie buff critics . 🤔 QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Nov 26 2018, 03:56 PM) Because creating "different opinions" sells.Much like the fakenews or yellow journalism or sensationalism. |

It very much reminds me of "A Step into the Past" case.
The HK TVB version back in the 2001 was highly favourable. But that was 17 years ago. THINGS HAVE CHANGED SINCE THEN, including recording technique, technology usage, and most importantly, esthetic and feel. The 2018 version is from China. Rating https://movie.douban.com/subject/2983389/ https://movie.douban.com/subject/26388618/ They hated it because it is different from the novel/book and HK TVB 2001 version. Oh big f-ing deal! lol. I was one of the tiny crowds who are okay with the 2018 version. Forum "Kdrama and their flowery guys really the cancer to the new generations." This comment is gold. https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/tv-mania...st-5781864.html (folks in SG) https://forums.soompi.com/en/topic/397628-m...A7%A6%E8%AE%B0/ East Asia drama has strong "idol" element in these days. The idol element in 2001 is different compared to now. The dudes in the Robin Hood (2018) review vids that you posted here, do not understand what is "contemporary elements" in old franchises/titles in 2020. You want a good example of that? Check out "Oh My General (2017)". It has a good staunch of contemporary elements and breaking the traditions for good reasons. I'd consider the Sherlock Holmes (2009) and (2011) are good examples too, with some good actions. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=88131777 Oh My General (2017) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh_My_General Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWgQEhzSRL4 EP 01 - skip to the last part @ 36:28 LMAO (Yes, with comedy and gender bender genre) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlmsVQcsOS4 Someone made a good review of "Oh My General" but unfortunately, due to copyright issues, it has been taken down. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAJa5VlzzR...-IQbXqyA/videos Sometimes, it is difficult to revisit old franchises. It is difficult to please everyone. And that goes with the saying: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Different strokes for different folks. One man's treasure is another man's trash. Everyone appreciates art differently. P.S. A bit derailed but trying to prove some points. This post has been edited by Meis: Dec 9 2018, 05:41 AM |

Y'all taking the movie critics all too serious. First of all, it is not a confirmation bias of masturbating one's opinion. It's only a point of reference and not a decree of consensus benchmark. Ultimately you decide on your own what is good or bad. If your enjoyment rooted in what other people saying about a movie then don't complain the poor scores but look at your own insecurity.
Just accept the fact that Godfather/Citizen Kane will be regarded as the best movie ever in academic sense while Disney movies are the preferred choice for the masses. One is fine dining while the other is your popular McD burger. So stop compartmentalized there are only exclusive to only certain privileged movie goers. Also it doesn't mean you can't enjoy both at the same time or hate one over the other. It's a choice that everyone free to take and not some fake news conspiracy theory. |

I agree.
By the way, I'd watched Pacino's Scarface. Did not recall much. Was ok I guess. Love the most was the actresses of course...pure beauty. But 'Serpico' was boring as shite Anyways, I am a big fan of the oldies like McQueen and Newman. Watched their old movies...nice~ QUOTE(skylinelover @ Dec 12 2018, 06:00 AM) Haha just compare with 1930s scarface and 1980s scarface Man people in the 80s never blast al pacino version for being so different from the 1930s How i wish we go back 2 the age of no internet no smartphone and no computers Isnt society great in the 80s because people all living a very simple life and no skimpy fashions at all |

I prefer Connery though.
Real life tough guy. Former bodybuider, experience in bar brawls and street fights. Tackled six gang members. Sad he lost hair. QUOTE(skylinelover @ Dec 12 2018, 08:04 AM) |
