Hi everyone

I know that breast milk is the best and I agree. But wife recently had to take medication and breast milk stops production. I hope temporarily.

Just few questions I have:

Note: My dauhter is 40 days today.

1. I gave her ANMUM step 1 yesterday and she abit restless after that. Feels like her tummy is gassy. Even vomit a little when I burp her (not spitting). Does this means the milk not suitable for her?

2. Anyone had tried giving their newborn Karihome brand before? I read good reviews on the Internet, but then Doctor said goat milk not suitable for newborn. So kind of conflicted. Any comments?

baby at that age is weak and might take some time to get use with the feeding. start with 30ml or a scoop of it and feed every 1.5 hours or 2

Eventhough the recommendation dosage is 4 oz? Which tbh, I feel quite a lot though. I tried cutting it to 2.5oz now, which is her normal intake for EBM.

my first daughter till today is using s26 gold series from step 1 to 3. product price a bit expansive compared to other brands but at least till today, everything seems fine. for a start aged 40 days, feeding intervals and adjustments of feeding sequent is important

When my daughter was around your daughter's age, I gave her s-26 step 1.
I think that is normal if you introduce the milk to her, same like us when drinking milk after so long not drink, feel like our stomach is restless. But, need to be careful if there are any possibility of lactose intolerance (this one I do not know much). This one you need to monitor. Try give her few times the anmum, anything wrong, see paed.

I have bought karihome once for my daughter. Bought because she had prolonged jaundice. And heard goat milk can help jaundice go away. But stopped and changed to s-26, a lot of people say goat milk is quite 'hot'.

Now I use anmum for my daughter, step 3. I prefer anmum because it has lowest added sugar compare to few brands of milk. I have used s-26 step 3 for 1 or 2 boxes, when I shake the bottle, it forms a lot of bubbles, mixability for me is quite bad. Try taste the milk, got a funny taste. But for anmum, mixability is excellent, no bubbles at all. The taste is like a normal milk, no funny taste. Not promoting anmum though.

Thanks. Just came back from the paed. Just leaving this for someone else in case it is useful.

The Dr said that there are babies that just prefer breast milk and won't take formula. But he said try to take formula that is not sweet since breast milk is not sweet He gave sample of Enfalac A+ and Similac LF formula to try out.

Also to make sure the bubble after mixing formula is reduce. Try popping it or something.

Hoping for the best.

I see. That's what people inform me on goat's milk as well. Saying it is heaty. But I also read comments that baby immune system was better when taking goat's milk. Hence why I am asking.

Try Morinaga, it claims to be closest to breast milk and not so 'heaty'. My preterm babies (half breastfeed and half formula) taking it and they're now 50 days old. You may check on their website where to get it.

I definitely on board with your paed about the sweetness. Do understand it takes time for your baby to adapt to the new formula, formula is more difficult to digest compared to breastmilk so give it some time. However about the bubble, I don’t think there’s bubbles if u shake it correctly and wash the bottle+nipple thoroughly to prevent any leftover soap. My son on formula since NB, I use S26 platinum but imported. I’ve tried several local formula, and I can understand why he rejected them hehe.. all off them not as good as the imported one based on the composition, nutritional values, texture, smells and taste. I’ve compared all (including local S26 gold). I think the “ok” one that I can found in KL only NAN. And formula still the best option for your baby after breastmilk unless there’s any certain medical condition.
