Hey sifus! So I'm upgrading from a 1100D and have come towards these two models who share almost all the same features but a small gap in price range. Can anyone tell me if it's worth splurging that "extra" to get the 77D? bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

Very different in terms of ergonomics.

77D is like a bridge between the 800D and 80D, the controls are a lot better on 77D.

https://snapshot.canon-asia.com/article/en/...h-camera-to-get

- EOS 77D RM 3.35K
- EOS 80D RM 3.22K
- EOS 800D RM 2.67

For that price, get yourself an 80D. Miles ahead of the other 2. smile.gif Either the 80D or 800D, not the 77D.

Thanks for the reply buddy! Hmm but the 80D uses the older digic 6 right? Still better than the newer chip?

Did you read the conclusion of the article? smile.gif

Even based on personal experience with Canon, yes 80D is any time better than 77D regardless the processor.

I'm one of those who were also tossing up between these relatively same models,

If you have the money for it, the 80D is really a step up above the 77D and 800D. Of course, different people have different tastes/criteria but the reasons the *0D double digit canon stands out to me are mainly:

1. Weather/dust sealing (Should check out some durability test videos on youtube - the Canons are quite resilient!). However, after talking to many, regardless of how good one brand's weather sealing is to another, at the end of the day, every little bit of extra sealing helps! really! especially in our weather and dust filled urban/street areas! This is something I absolutely love and need. Especially with kids around and water splashing or some 'unfortunate accident' always looming to happen.

2. the controls+touchscreen is more intuitive on the *0D canons. However, just comparing touchscreens. they are exactly the same as far as quality and responsiveness.

3. Optical viewfinder... I initially thought maybe 98%-100% might not be too noticeable (but now it is very noticeable to me when compositing on my 70D), therefore, I think the 95%-100% will be EVEN more noticeable.

4. Ergonomics. Thought not a huge priority, but having one that is up to your taste of size and weight (which is sooooooooo relative when it comes to the feeling of the grip in your hands) will matter cause you WILL be holding it for quite a while when shooting, so you want something you like holding, eh?

Cheers
