Lately, 1 of my cars have been having low idle RPM, below 700

This tends to result in bad at traffic lights/jams.

Can this be fixed? I've sent it to SC many times, but they just said "reset liao, should fix it".

Could this be engine mounting problem too? Is there such a thing as better engine mountings that reduce engine vibrations?

Thanks!

EDIT: sorry, typo xD

Idle RPM is considered normal if it hovers between 700 - 800 RPM.

Below that, then it is considered low.

You can try to clean the throttle body and MAF sensor. It should restore the idle to normal by doing that.

SC will do it for you upon your request. I just don't know how much they charge.

Just saw your car is having GDI engine. The low RPM can also be due to carbon deposits located at the intake valve. A very common problem on GDI engine. It will take a lot more work to clean these area.

I always DIY on my Honda City 2010.

Do you have rough idling as well, not just low? It is something to do with fuel. Maybe fuel injector get clogged. Try fuel injector cleaner. Maybe bad spark plug.

Personally I think I'd just try another set of spark plug. Cheaper than send for inspection biggrin.gif

Ahhh! This most likely the cause. I don't like the GDI engine for this but since you go to authorized shop under warranty, this should be under scheduled maintenance, right?

Too much carbon buildup. Same problem as EP6 engine for Peugeot 3008. Cost RM 200+ to decarbonise. According to mech, this is due to poor quality fuel used (aka RON95 from Petronas).

Yeah could be this too. I use 97 Shell. But I heard that there will be carbon buildup regardless of what fuel we use though sad.gif

Mine jerk after spark plug not long after serviced. They tried every other thing including changing wire harness in engine compartment but then try th spark plug last though I've been suggesting this so long. Problem gone. Just bad new spark plug ... well not bad immediately though laugh.gif

service MAF sensor and throttle body. can spray seafoam intake spray also.

modern car recirculates exhaust back into engine for better complete burn and due to government regulations on exhaust.
it's by design to get dirty and get clogged, especially intake valves, egr and throttle body.

LOL, you're one of the few that answered this step correctly.
GG a lot of owners kena buta change spark plugs, change lots of unrelated things due to rough idling from dirty throttle body.

btw, MAF sensor very hard to get clogged. i opened mine before and it's like new !
