That time in Malaysia there was Eracom, a distributor or dealer that sell Shareware locally.

I bought my first game (Doom?) from Eracom with multiple 3.5 inch diskette for installation. The Shareware concept is no more now.

I also started on 80286 yes around $4k at that time. 10mb hdd was norm. Strangely till today I use the same accounting and POS software which started out as IUS and then became ACCPAC Plus. I am still using this today for my business. I discovered this program works very well in XP Pro. Can even use in Windows 7 XP mode but not as stable. This ACCPAC Plus has been very good to me and made me much money...

ACCPAC Plus is not heavy apps
therefore is not an issue for old PC or new PC

It may not be heavy but can only be used on old computers since it is a DOS based program and can only be run on DOS or Windows XP. Newer computers can't run Windows XP - you get the blue screen of death. Heck, I can't even get an Atom based Intel NUC to run XP!
