There’s a news on The Star today (page 4) regarding blocking spam calls with apps - one of which is called Truecaller. Anyone can give reviews on this (or any other) spam blocking apps?

Any risks to using them?

Using truecaller since 3-4 months ago.
Pretty good. Just need to manual update the list. else it's perfect.
Sometimes i see its SPAM but i still pick up. just want to confirm that it is not my bank credit card that is calling.

I'm using Calls Blacklist PRO. Useful for blocking Private Calls.

Use true caller to block Public Bank Telemarketer - still got through, then second time block using default call app.

well those apps collect all your contacts saved in your phone...

I wouldnt use those kind of apps personally. That is one of the reason why your contact are receiving promo calls from now and then.

this is the reason I stopped using it, but I guess they already have all the numbers from my phone lol. surprisingly after uninstalling it, I didn't get a single scam call so far.

How do the developers regain their investment cost, and operating cost? All this for free?

if youre using note8, truecaller is already integrated in it. i was quite surprised too when I first got calls from numbers that I never knew, and it already marked with large SPAM on the number.
even if its insurance seller or something, it will be stated provided someone in the truecaller network have reported it at least once and its been verified. quite neat, id say..

You can have a look on the app permissions of the app on Google play.

Normally they will bunch up the user data and sell to 3rd parties, to be used in targeted ads.

Using it, premium some more. The best part is the local crowd source in identify the spammers, bank agents, bill collectors, insurance agents etc. Once others users blocked it, our app will automatically blocked it on the spot.

I installed TrueCaller on iOS12 however the caller ID doesn't show when unknown numbers call. When I manually search the number in TrueCaller app, the number is in the database. I already enabled the call blocking & identification in settings.
