Currently the carriers that operate from SZB are:
Firefly: Singapore (Seletar airport), JB, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Bahru, Alor Setar, Langkawi, Penang
Berjaya Air: Redang

What we know so far about the new carriers that will be operating from SZB:
AirAsia: Kota Kinabalu, Kuching
Batik Air (Malindo): Domestic
SKS Airways: Redang, Tioman
TransNusa: Jakarta
Scoot (not confirmed)

If you want to travel to other destinations like Bangkok, you still need to go to KLIA or have a stopover in Penang if you're flying with Firefly (since they partner with Thai AirAsia and Scoot).

Means, having an increase in flight traffic in the air space around the area but not much added convenience for travelers heading to other popular destinations of SEA.

Haven't noticed any open burning in Elmina. The air is usually pretty fresh here since it's near the forest and far enough from the factories.

That said, today I was driving down Jalan Sungai Buloh, I saw an open burning just few kms before the township. The dark smoke was massive and could be seen from far. Couldn't take a pic since i was driving, but wish I could have reported it. If anyone managed to snap a pic make sure to report it to the DOE of Selangor. It's after Rattan Decor and before the Shell station.

Just came back from the mall, what a trip. Cars were parked along the roads even before reaching the mall, and I thought to myself no way there are that many people. When I got there, it was packed! Even the two outdoor parking lots were full. I had to circle around to find a spot on the roadside.

Spotted iherng at the sales office, and the mall was so bustling and lively - such a vibrant atmosphere! Not bad at all for the first day.

The warehouse concept is very refreshing. The high ceilings and airy space really give it a nice vibe, it did not feel hot maybe because of today's weather. Saw young families bringing baby strollers and older folks out with their children. A great mix of people, and it feels very lifestyle-friendly, comparable to (if not better than) the Waterfront at Desa Parkcity. The only downside is this mall is not pet friendly.

Most of the shops were already open, but Harvey Norman will only open next Friday, which btw is a huge store. I had only stayed for a short while, but I'm definitely planning to return to check out the massage center and grocery store. Oh, and I picked up some char siew wantan mee to support the food store there. Many promo until end of the week.

Personally I think this place is going to thrive. The turnout was impressive considering it was a weekday. Just imagine how busy it will get on the weekend. It seems like everyone has been craving some entertainment on top of the leisure activities they're already enjoying in Elmina and the neighboring townships. Fingers crossed that the clubhouse for indoor sports will be ready soon.

Sounds good! Where is the location of indoor clubhouse?

I came across this video from about 1.5 years ago that mentioned the location should be just in front of Ilham Residence 2 and next to Tiana Elmina Gardens. There hasn't been any new info released since then.

Been there yesterday. I would say environment is nicer than Dpc because it is new and alot bigger. BUT its still not comparable to Dpc bcoz demographic is different. There is just too many T20 at Dpc because of their premium product so spending power is high. Not saying there isnt here but its a good mix of all income group.

Checkout lakeside mall again in a few months later. If shops and restaurant is always full on weekend then the mall will be sustainable and perhaps attract more brands.

I was there for a short while, just checking out the shops and how everything's set up.

The place does feel nice, not just because it's new and big. I get that DPC has pulled in a crowd with some serious spending power, so now it's on Sime Darby to figure out how to draw this crowd in.

After my visit today, my updated impression is that this place is starting to feel like a bazaar.

It's great for grabbing food, hanging out with friends, doing some grocery shopping, and picking up a few light items and services or furniture that the locals need. But it's not really a place for relaxing or santai, which is what the parks are for. I noticed a lot of families with very young kids just slowly strolling around, not really paying attention to their surroundings. There were even some teens sitting on the floor eating, and signs of people stepping on the plants just to save a few steps. The trash bins were overflowing with trash and empty milk tea bottles since there was a good promo going on, and instead of taking their trash with them, people were just chucking it outside the bins. It felt way messier than on the first day, and I wasn't able to enjoy myself.

I'll try to go back on a weekday and definitely avoid weekends until the hype is over.

On the bright side, I still love the open-air setup. After it rained on Friday evening, the place felt really cool and breezy, and there were less people. I chatted with some folks running the events and we were joking about it being cold. It can get quite chilly after the rain sometimes. Also, this open-air concept makes sure that it keeps out people looking for just free air conditioning.

Sime Darby could definitely consider bringing in more brands because after you eat, if you want to wander around and shop, there's not much besides groceries to get. For locals, it's still ok, but it definitely doesn't make sense for outsiders making a special trip to just eat and then leave. The lakeside area is nice, but it all depends on the weather. Plus, the playgrounds are always packed now, so it's not the most exciting place for families with younger kids. The walkways in front of the shops get wet after heavy rain, something I'm sure Sime Darby would have noticed and should do something about it.

I also hope they start charging for parking soon to help manage the crowds and keep it to people who really want to support the businesses. I had to park pretty far away to get to the mall, and I can't see myself doing that every time I visit.

<Verbatim extracted from the article>
Leong believes Kanopi Residences and Elmina City Centre will do well because of their unique positioning. “Unlike Kanopi Residences, high-rise developments in KL are generally very high-density, with no accessibility to parks and green spaces. At Elmina City Centre, residents have access to 300 acres of park any time and they are only 15 minutes’ walking distance from amenities, and 15 minutes’ driving distance from Kota Damansara and 20 minutes from KL. It’s very convenient. This is why [our offerings in City of Elmina] have been selling well.”

is it really 15 mins driving distance from the heart of KD, say Sunway Giza and 20 mins drive from KL city centre?

When DASH was newly opened, I was able to reach Mont Kiara in 15 min on a weekend (without speeding). So he's not exaggerating, but with nowadays traffic, 15 min is hardly possible anymore. More people have already moved into the township so more cars and heavier traffic.

To Sunway Giza, it takes about 20 min with DASH and 25-30 min without, anytime during non-peak hours.

Going to work on a weekday, expect at least 50 min to get to KL/Bangsar with DASH. Used to be 40 min, which I thought wasn't too bad for 30km.

During peak-hours, be ready to pay the tolls so you can save some time and sanity. And don't expect the traffic to get better unless they connect DASH directly to the township.

Chill guys, no point ranting here about pushing traffic here and there. Kwasa will confirm be jam packed when most developments are up as it will be majority highrise with plenty of commercial components. Even without the connection, traffic will be bad for Kwasa, which is a good thing as it means the area is successful. If no traffic, then it means kwasa has failed. However if there are many commercial elements in Kwasa, these commercial interests will be pushing for more connections so that it is easier for folks to enter/exit Kwasa. As for me, i will be retired then so peak hour traffic won't be an issue personally.

Yeah, Kwasa is all high-rise and townhouse developments. The townhouses are not only near the MRT station, but also a mosque and a public park. Fingers crossed EPF and all the developers plan the parking areas properly, if not the place is going turn out like the parking mess along the road by the MRT station. With no one living there yet, the parking situation is already so messy. Also, the place is only 1km from the Sg Buloh industrial area, so I guess we’ll see a lot of trucks passing through the area? But being so close to the industrial area means it’ll be vibrant, which also means more traffic. If they connect Persiaran Atmosfera, then Subang 2 which is mainly a light industrial area will also be linked up. Just don’t make the roads too straight and wide like the ones in Elmina, that's just going to attract a lot of Mat Rempits.

This is why they need to do something about Persiaran Shorea. Many are using Elmina as a bypass to get onto Guthrie.

Hi there. Where could I download this master plan picture from Sime Darby Property website? I did not see it at the website. It will be good if you can share a copy here, or a link to download it. I would like to see the master plan for Elmina West and Elmina East. Thanks!

Take a look at the brochure they put out with the newly launched properties: Either The Nine or Elmina Ridge in Elmina West, and Ilham Residence 3 in Elmina East.
