it takes at least 1 week or more in my experience.and using up a whole tube of TIM is using way tooo much..i used for my mobo,hsf and gpu also used less then 1 quarter of the tube. laugh.gif

bro, i did it once.. dont worry sweat.gif just try a dot for your cpu and gpu.. dont have to add on hsf...

most thermal compounds needs a period for it to "set in".means you have to wait before achieving optimal temps.correct me if im wrong.  smile.gif

yes like ac5 mx1 and nanofusion require around 200 hours of use to fully optimise its heat transfer capability. Ceramique is around 12 hours.

the only prob with ac5 would be the use of 99.7-99.8% of micronised silver. Silver being a metal in nature if not careful can cause electrical conductivity and more worst short circuits due to virtual connections on the board.... also that because it liquifies, it has a problem with detoriation over time. Given by a website i read somewhere, you would only appreciate the intrinsic capabilities of ac5 when you are an overclocker because of the heat transfer capability. Otherwise any other paste would do, like ceramique:)

I've used AS5 before and am using MX-1 now on same setup ... difference of about 1C-3C cooler than AS5 after curing for about 1 week.

That's way too much and using too much actually reduces its effectiveness. Depending on whether your CPU is single core, dual core or quad core, the amount of AS5 or MX-1 used and the application , i.e. rice grain size dot in centre, thin horizontal line or thin vertical line will differ depending on the core placement underneath the IHS. You can find more information on the Artic Silver website (link provided below)

mine is single core cpu

firtst time apply thermal paste lolz. I apply some on the hsf and the cpu chip. Then for gc also same, apply on the hsf and the chip ... ngam ngam finish sweat.gif

Arctic Cooling MX-1 seems better than AS5.
On monday, i bought myself a tube of MX-1 for myself.

Then applied it on the same way i apply AS5 on my CPU IHS.
After 4 days, MX-1 performs at 26 degrees [Yes, i'm on watercooling]

While AS5 performs at 28 degrees.

Wow, this does proves that MX-1 is much much better than AS5. hmm.gif

ehehe, thought so too..

but between as5 and mx-1 the choice is actually preference of the user, coz both is roughly the same =)

Descriptions:
High Performance Thermal Compound for the Enthusiast
Turbo MX-2 is a high conductive and low resistance compound for components that require the best thermal dissipation. MX-2 is ideally suited for use in CPU, GPU cooling and other applications between power semiconductor components and heat sinks where high thermal conductivity is critical.

Main Features
* High Thermal Conductivity
* Low Thermal Resistance
* Non-Electrical Conductive
* Non-Capacitive
* Non-Curing
* Non-Corrosive
* No Bleeding
* Odorless

No Metal Particles
Since the MX-2 compound does not contain any metal particles, there are no problems regarding electrical conductivity and capacitance. In contrast to silver and copper compounds, contact with electrical traces, pins, and leads cannot result in any damage.

Durability
Curing and bleeding of the compound is not possible. In contrast to metal or silicon pastes, this compound does not show decreasing performance over time, does not need to be reapplied and has a durability of at least 8 years.

USing AS5 and Artic Cooling MX1 now. I found that the MX1 is about giving the same result on my cpu,this is maybe due to my heatsink (Thermatake one).

I'm using MX-1.

Decided to do full heatsink service (after 3 years) - clean off dust, lapped heatsink base, remove old paste and reapply MX-1. Temps now dropped about 11-12C. I think dust removal (very thick) contributed a lot plus also the MX-1.
