Only work for simple insurance products like travel insurance, motor insurance, etc. Bank Negara have actually set targets for all insurance companies to increase their online presence but the fact is even in develop countries like Singapore, HK, Britain, etc. the main sales are still coming from agents. When it comes to some more complicated insurance products, it is still better to go through an insurance agent as there are a lot of terms of conditions where the agent should explain to customers.

This protest I believe is due to a new guidelines introduced by Bank Negara where agents commission are going to be linked to the service they provide to their customers. Previously, a lot of agents just sell products and do not give aftersales services because they already get their commission. If I am not mistaken, they don't get all their commission straight away. It will be spaced out over a period of time to force agent to continue providing services. Also, if a customer do not continue paying for products, it will also affect their commission.

In time for claim, good agent can nego with Dr to give more favourable report on behalf of their client.. this will help the client a lot smile.gif

If they automate this process thru online system, this will sure more sided to the insurance company rather than the clent.

My previous company CEO from insurance company drives BMW only but some of the agency leaders drive ferarri, porshe, lambo, etc. He always joke with us better become agent than become CEO.

online is actually good BUT
1. the purpose of the agent is to let u know what you're getting and what are the T&C
2. but some of the agent don't even know shiat abt the product...so everything just say yes
3. but there are good agents out there that will follow up with u from time to time
4. medical card...can...easy enough for customer to understand..can apply online
but other insurance plan, u have to have someone explain it to u...else u will went rage mode when you're abt to claim it

but to cut someone's commission that is helping u sell product is a little unfair
