4R pics, each print RM 1.50 at certain shops. 10 Pieces for RM 15 to RM 20 range, depending on the shop.

As for personal photo printer - you have to see how often you print, the latest Epson printer I saw that does photo print (and OK la, decent output) is RM 600 range, not inclusive of paper.

RM 600 is enough to print 400 pieces of 4R photos from shop.

In the end worth it or not depends on how frequent you print, quality wise I find those RM 1.50 from shop look better than sub RM 1,000 photo printers, also no need headache to worry about replacing ink tank and what not.

Technically digital content won't fail or deteriorate, it's the storage medium that fails or fade.

What you do is put in a storage drive and also consider the option to upload to multiple cloud solutions.

Same applies to videos, the difference is that videos take up A LOT more space for covering the same moments, however video captures the moments better as the content is rich with movement and audio.

You can buy 4TB hard drives for about RM 500, also available as external storage.

Go with whichever means of backup you're most familiar with.

If you're on Android smartphone then can consider having photos backup to Google Photos, iOS smartphones I believe they also have cloud service provided for such.

people have been discussing about printing own photos since the price of printers became affordable. The verdict is, printing own photos is more expensives because printer inks are already expensive. You can buy cheap ink, but your picture can fade at any time..

I would like to add regarding ink based printing especially when people are expecting photos to last 20, 30 or more years is to do your home work first. I always find that ink based prints fade after a few years and I suspect that is due to us not keeping them in "archival" conditions, I.e. low humidity and temperature. I have a few 30" prints that are holding up but each of those prints probably cost me like rm100+ printed by professional printers. My take is don't expect RM1.50 prints even for 4R to last without fading

This is correct, typical 4R print will fade, it's just like those photos taken 20 - 30 years ago all lose color.

Those expensive professional photos are using ink as well but they're different type, different types of ink and paper and they were made with archival purpose in mind.

Unlike the usual camera shop, these shops or companies specialize in print - very high quality print with superb accuracy.

I spent RM 150 to print 5x A3 images. That also their bare minimum I think but the quality is super duper damn good, I go with these type of providers when I participate in photography competition or photography qualification. They're so good I also use their service when I need prints for exhibition purpose.

The guy who handles my print is so good he can print larger than what most people dare to, and still get it done really good. Comes at a price though, when other people don't dare to print a phone camera's 4MP photo above A4 size, he printed mine to like almost 4ft in width on canvas. That one cost me some RM 500 or so, half a decade later the image is still around in my living room.
