Old iPhone: backup to iCloud.
If 5gb not enough. I wld suggest:
1) pay for the 50gb (99¢) or 200gb ($2.99) for a month.
Or
2) uncheck iPhoto backup in iCloud settings.
a) Extract ur photos into ur Mac or PC. Backup n keep safe or transfer them back into new iPhone later, or
b) install google photos app, backup all ur photos to google cloud. Original (limit to 15gb) or High quality (unlimited)

New iPhone: restore from iCloud. Done
