that is a bit too long. i know that after you install the latest update, it did take a while for OS to load up but not until 30-45 mins, probably around 5 mins or so.
anyone else experiencing the same problem.

nope.. this is the first time i take over the maintenance work. before this all had been done by vendor.
i know by reformat it will back to normal. i'm looking into other solutions first. mr google tell me that maybe it has bad preferrence files (system files) inside the mac, but i'm not so expert in mac yet.
thanx for those who give me recommendations..

I'm using a G4 iBook, and yea the startup tends to be slightly slower compared to usual PC Windows startup. Estimated of approximately 6-8 minutes on average.
35 minutes? That's a bit too much. Try either Onyx (as stated by oh-so-many si-fus above this post) or some other maintenance alternatvies. There are plenty of freewares out there that does the job, different in utilities but all targeting the same objective.
Seriously though, I don't htink it's necessary for you to reformat the iBook. Waste of time only.

QUOTE(kevler @ Jun 8 2007, 04:29 PM) like what i said before ... just reimage your Mac ...solved . i'm following my boss quote "formatting is not a way of resolving a problem". i follow that for windows platform. hehe.. and of coz i cannot afford to format everytime i encounter problem. (there are 18 emac here running on OS 9 or OS X) it is the last thing that i'll do. better gain some experience by try n error in resolving problem aite? but hey, at least ur recommend me something and thnx for your feedback.

Hi,
May i know if the LAN cable is plugged in when you start it? I've experience slow startup when connected to LAN, What i do is unplug the LAN cable, then start the computer. seems to be faster. Try and see?

My cousin had the same problem. I believe it was faulty RAM. Have a check on your memory. Try removing the new ones and put back the old one. - yap
