I have been hearing some of the mesh router does not work on Unifi (or it's actually bullshit?). I am planning to purchase the following mesh router (https://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details/cat-5700_Deco-M5.html), but can you guys please advice if it will work on the Unifi? Does it work seamlessly, as in, using the official TM router, from there a LAN cable linked to this mesh router?
If not, please advice if any of you have been using mesh router and please share your experience (which ones work, etc), appreciate a lot.

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 11 2019, 11:20 AM) I can easily hit about 260Mbps in my room with the iPhone which is about 10 meters from the nearest Deco M5 unit (located outside the room). If I stand next to M5, I can get about 400Mbps ++ . All 3 units of M5 are connected via Ethernet. BTW, its functioning as a WAP.. no routing. I've also turned off 2.4Ghz on the M5. I am intending to not connect them via ethernet, that's why I need to know if it works at all without ethernet (in the other units, of course the main one still connect via ethernet to the TM router, for example), aka routing??

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 12 2019, 10:16 AM) The 2nd and 3rd Deco unit can communicate with the main Deco unit wirelessly (thus extending the Wifi network) BUT they work better and most importantly, FASTER if they're all connected via an ethernet backhaul. If I connect the 2nd and 3rd units via ethernet, does that mean that I’ve to manually switch to the appropriate (nearest) SSID whenever I move or it also works seamlessly by switching itself (aka, only one single SSID)?

QUOTE(taqu @ Jan 12 2019, 01:00 PM) No need. Wifi switching/roaming all done by your your device. Normally works fine except sometimes it's still connected to your previous AP, or change to 2.4GHz even when you're previously connected to 5GHz band. Thanks so much for the clarification. So, let say I configure my infrastructure using Deco and Unifi router in the following format will it work as expected: Unifi modem -> TM router TM router -> Deco M5 Unit 1 (living room) TM router -> switch(Level 2) -> ethernet port in multiple rooms in Level 2 Room 1 at Level 2 ethernet port -> Deco M5 Unit 2 Room 2 at Level 2 ethernet port -> Deco M5 Unit 3 Will this configuration work as expected with the switch box located at Level 2?
