HG8240w is already has gigabit port, your BTU just same like my office one. My office was turboed to 500mbps, same router like yours too the TP-Link AC1200. However, I can't do speedtest in office PC because the server Ethernet switch just has 100mbps. However, I did test on wifi with my phone. The TP-Link AC1200 was able to reach maximum 300mbps+ on 5GHz. So I have to confirm that your BTU HG8240w is a gigabit modem. No need to replace.
