QUOTE(cannavaro @ Nov 10 2018, 04:33 PM) He tested with his own laptop and etc. Only said like it has to be 5.0ghz wifi to get max speed, yet I can only get like 200-300mbps range that time when I tested with him on my phone on 5ghz wifi. Even wired can't get max speed for some reason.Lately i'm getting around 80-150mbps only. |

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Nov 10 2018, 04:49 PM) not surprised on not getting max speeds on wifi, but on wired... hmmm.. tried resetting your router? (factory defaults) Yeah he himself didn't get max speed. Hovering around 200-300mbps that time. He got bring his own router but he told me the router is the same as the one he was bringing.so on wired, on his laptop and your desktop/laptop (?), both cannot get 500Mbps? edit: he did not bring another router to test right? Yeah, I did factory reset, and reconfigure the router just in case. No luck on my end. Might call them again, see what soke other technician have to say. QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Nov 10 2018, 04:58 PM) You can nego, but I suggest getting your own router. DIR842 only 300mbps despite it saying it could go above 800mbps? The Tenda Nova if can hit 500mbps, at max I got yesterday 300mbps. Tenda Nova also mentioned 800mbps+ on 5.0ghz wifi. Did you see 1st page, 1st post, green text, for list of compatible routers for the turbo speed? The DIR-842 can only hit max speed of 300Mbps on Wi-Fi as you already know, and can see. The Tenda Nova probably can hit 500Mbps, but only on very optimal conditions. Best speed probably 300Mbps as well. For wired, you need a better router to hit 500Mbps as well. The hardware of the router is probably limiting the speed. Even though it is gigabit router, you still need to have hardware that can support it. I recommend either the Archer C9 and above, Tenda AC18, or top-end Asus routers such as the Asus RT-AC68U or Asus RT-AC86U. Your devices also need to have at least 3x3 MIMO, see here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4658454 Thanks will keep that in mind. Probably will change the router then. Or use the Tenda Nova as router. Also I should upgrade to cat6 while i'm at it. This post has been edited by Rei7: Nov 10 2018, 05:22 PM |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Nov 10 2018, 05:29 PM) i read your last few posts.. not clear if u mean ethernet or WIFI. Wireless. Note 8, PC and Surface Pro 3 300mbps download, 100mbps upload..if wired, dir842 (and tplink ac1200) can do up to 830mbps when the guy tested with his latop in my case. my own devices, max 650. wifi... his handphone, 500-600; my own devices 200-300. yr 500mbps, results shud correspond. ethernet or wifi... i think u gotta have EVERYTHING first class to get full speed. Wired need to test again, gotta bring my PC downstairs. Other devices no lan port.. QUOTE(dickybird @ Nov 10 2018, 05:46 PM) That's your infra not your end user devices. I meant your end user devices the things actually running the speedtests. Maybe they aren't up to speed? My PC can check the sig for spec, Samsung Note 8, Surface Pro 3 and Macbook Pro 2015.For TM, as long as they can give 80% of stated speed is considered pass. And best effort means it is not always you get stated speed also so they are double covered. QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Nov 10 2018, 05:51 PM) It can't go above 800Mbps. That is just a theoretical number and real-life wireless speed will be much lower because of a lot of reasons. Tenda Nova probably can only go 300Mbps then, and again that is just a theoretical number. Alright. Guess need time need to get that Asus spider looking router If you want to enjoy 500Mbps speed, you need to have the best router and devices that can support the speed. |

QUOTE(cannavaro @ Nov 11 2018, 02:51 AM) I happen to have a non TM DIR842 as a spare AP that I have yet to deploy, not for my own personal use. So mostly you just factory reset and test the speed without changing much is it? So I set it up for a test. - btu to router using ugreen cat 7 rounded cable - from router to my 2011 desktop pc using ugreen cat 7 flat cable Using the latest available MY firmware: Had to reset to factory defaults though because last time I already changed some settings on it since it was meant to be an AP and not the main router.. tried to reconfigure it but I wasn't getting full speed so decided to reset and that worked. this is the default QOS page, before resetting to factory defaults I adjusted the speed here and dragged the card to give my pc highest priority to see what sort of speed I will get.. it was maxxed at 200Mbps ish, LOL Deleted my pc from the QOS list, and somehow the speed is still limited. Restarted the router, and upon checking my pc is still in the QOS list I recall someone saying on the DIR850L there is a glitch similar to this Guess i'll try again tomorrow |
