So many people asking for design service this days, but offer no where close to even enough for a meal.

Pricing is simple, for the amount of time needed x3 ....... just remember our customer are different from the food industry, they don't come to you everyday, much of them are one time off service, your price is base on how much you need to pass the next month.

unless you have found client who need a design every month for a product, or an event client who constantly need new design for different theme that you would consider charging decently cheaper.

And NEVER EVER GIVE PDF to client. That is the creative rights of the creator, giving them that means you give up your design so they can modify and reuse whenever they want.

Then what format you give to your clients?

It depends on what their demand of service is, never give working files to client unless they buy that right.

Read this, designer's right

Got exception to the rule. One time, a client asked me to send them back their own logo, because no one within the company had it.

Giving source code might be too much. But PDF is needed definitely.

They will have to buy the full rights to have everything down to the design folder. Otherwise it should always be only the base of the stock, never the work flow. Any part of your layer work is exposed its as good as giving out to the world free.

A jpg of your work is RM300. A PSD file is RM3000 ... and that is only from amature. Professional company charge way more then this.

If a client or a company demand to have your process files they are as good as robbing you. No amount of explanation justify having your modify able work handed over.

Malaysia most du lan part is ignorant client + innocent designers. The client think its suppose to get all of your work with a pay, the designers desperate enough to give for the sake of earning their next meal.

Because of this college produce very little designers every year and barely any people go full time freelance on this.

The main point is, NEVER give anything that would expose in anyway how you design or made the logo unless you are decently paid to sell that rights.

don't forget a company can use those work to register under copyright and claim the full design rights for it. in the future if a design look similar they can challenge anyone in court even though they did not buy the full rights which include the original designers themselves.

The black and white game is what most client pretend to be a virgin when most of them knew better then the designers themselves what is legal and what is not when it comes to owning the right to a design.
