Dun know is it due to the lighting in the shop. 300 nits on MacBook Air does not look bright enough.

A bit disappointed by this. Not sure if I should get this or mbp base model.

I guess we'll have to wait until December to see it in store.

I've been using a thinkpad since 2012... time for an upgrade & have always wanted to try mac os.

Thinking of getting the new MBA but gosh... how do you guys justify the cost for these macbooks?

There are a few ppl on macrumors complaining about the new 3rd gen keyboard... certain keys doing "double" stroke. See video above.

It doesn't happen all the time but enough to be an annoyance, considering the fact you're paying premium for this machine.

aw crap!

and here i thought Apple had the keyboard problem ironed out already for the 3rd gen keyboard.
saw lotsa complaints at reddit & macrumours forum too.

Guess i have to hold my decision to buy MBA or MBP 2018 for that matter, until they can really fix the problem.

sigh.  doh.gif  yawn.gif

Yea...

According to the owner in the video, she got the MBA replaced and it's still having the same issue but with different keys this time. What a bummer

Don’t select surface. Here is feedback from my friend
1. Keyboard base change colour & dirty after a period
Yes. I saw the demo unit in lowyat IT hypermarket yesterday & it's freaking gross. I touched it & not only it's dirty but it feels sticky. Yuck!

Yea... I saw it yesterday at klcc's machine.

The MBA's full brightness is probably equivalent to MBP's 70% brightness. I don't think that's a deal breaker.

It's nicer to hold due to its wedge design unlike MBP's blocky design.

Weight wise, both are pretty similar... so no extra points for portability.

For me, I think the MBP offers better value for its price.

looking to purchase MBA 2018 256GB,

but price difference between 128GB and 256GB is RM850. wtf apple? now seriously thinking again

if RM400 difference still can stomach...anyone that can find better deal please let me know tq

Agree man. That's the thing. You can actually get last year's MBP for a cheaper price.

As much as I like the MBA design, it's tough sell imho. Perhaps can wait for cheaper imported versions to arrive here.

1) was told by friend MBP 4core is not possible to type on ur lap, its too hot.
This is concerning. Could other 2018 13" MPB owners confirm this?

3rd gen keyboard still a failure for MBA2018 & MBP2018.

guess i hold my purchase first.

or maybe get the 7th gen Lenovo X1 Carbon slated for June 2019.

haihhhh rclxub.gif  doh.gif

People keep saying it only affects a tiny percentage of the units... but when you have big celebrity youtubers like casey neistat, unbox therapy, apple youtubers like luke miani, rene ritchie, zoneoftech, all having problems with the keyboard... then the odds are really much bigger.

I've already got my cash ready to get one of these but I just cannot do it man... urgh... sigh

From what I read on macrumors and reddit, it seems like the double key press issue is not really related to debris nor how you use the keyboard.

Those who use keyboard protectors are still affected by it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/macbookpro/comment...ingsticky_keys/

Some experience it even after replacing the keyboards *multiple* times.

The only feasible way to mitigate the problem (sort of) is with an app called Unshaky.

It's 2019 and let's be honest, with so many windows options out there do you think the 2018 macbook air is worth the asking price of RM5800?

Is the Mac OS really that much better?

For those who bought it, do you like it? Love it? Regret it?

MacBook Pro is a better option.

Thanks. I understand that the MBP is more powerful. Several reasons that made me lean towards the MBA
- better battery life
- not as hot & probably not as noisy as MBP
- slightly lighter (not a big deal) but I do like the wedge design
- dislike the touch bar
- cheaper

I'm not going to use it as my main machine as I have a desktop... will be using it as a portable device mainly for word & excel spreadsheets, you know... cafes, office & on my bed/couch.

my feedback on macbook pro
1. Using windows since day 1. Take a long decision when move to macbook. Price is more expensive than normal laptop

After using for more than 7 month
1. Still love it. no regret
2. No more nightmare on windows update & virus
3. No issue on app compatibility. Worse case run on vmware fusion as windows VM.So far only 1app (MS visio)
4. Battery life is better. Last longer than windows
5. USB C is better. Moving all my hardware to USB C
6. macOS much better than Windows OS. Seldom or almost near zero of hang experience
7. Performance is much better even low spec compare to powerful windows.
8. Still able to play my games such as cities skyline & total war: 3 kingdom on mac.
9. Fast boot

As conclusion, it is not hardware matter most. It 's the MacOS experience. It is far more greater than Windows.

Awesome. Thanks for your feedback. I do agree windows update is annoying, but i haven't gotten any virus issues in windows 10. Windows 10 has been quite reliable for me for the past few years.

Finally retrieved back my MBP TB 2017.

They replaced both the battery and top cover so that the keyboard is brand new too. previously there were some stains on it.

Now my 2 years old MBP looks brand new again. 😜

Is this the new 2019 keyboard or 3rd gen keyboard?

Hey guys, which would you’ll recommend the MacBook Air 2017 (Rm3.2k) or the MacBook Air 2018 (Rm4.4k)?

Converting from Windows to Mac.

Need a new laptop and I only use it mainly for the following purposes:

1.Social Media:Instagram,Facebook
2.E-Mails
3.Surfing the net for articles
4.Microsoft Office for work purposes:drafting contracts and spreadsheets

Is the additional Rm1.2k for the Retina Display worth the money?
*
I think it's best to go to the store & see for yourself... the old air's screen + bezel looks pretty bad & outdated imo. But hey if you dont mind it why not?

yup. Becos once u have used Retina display stuff even for phone. U will be hard to accept display that is at lower quality.

This is the reason why I will never buy any windows laptops becos they are totally not comparable to MacBook Pro.
*
If you're talking about screens there are many Windows laptops that have awesome displays these days... Thinkpad x1 carbon's QWHD HDR comes to mind, Matebook X Pro's display pretty much destroys the MBP with higher resolution, thin bezels & touch screen. It's not 2012 anymore. You are right they are not comparable because some of these Windows laptops have long surpass the MBP in terms of hardware.

Why am I seeing a different price at their website? Its rm4699 & rm5499.

Kinda sucks for those who just bought this at full retail price.
