OK people. I see that the posts in our lovely WoW forum is mainly for people to say stuffs like "ZOMG a 70 shammy got pwned by a lvl 10 rogue" or "i think this golden illidan look alike mask is cool". Why not we start with something where we can do some serious discussion to help the newbies here.

Let me start this off. Any of you know how Strength contributes to the attack power and hit rating. Theoretically speaking, would you pick an item that gives 1 Strength or 1 Hit Rating and 1 Attack Power. This I believe is the question most players ask when they receive their loots/rewards in outlands. Let the discussions begin

Strength contribution to AP and hit rating differ from classes to classes. But sorry, I'm not very sure about how much though

The official WoW Class forums has lots of sticky threads at the top for these questions. Some outdated, but many still relevant.

If you haven't reach the hit rating cap then 22 spell hit > 22 spell dmg. Not by a large margin though.

For Prayer of Mending, u get significantly lower bonus to healing since it is instant cast. Of all priest holy spells, only Renew will the full amount of ur +1300 bonus, since it is a heal over time spell.

+heal bonus is calculated using the formula below, meaning the shorter the cast time, the less benefit you get from your +heal, while a 3.5 sec spell will gain full benefit

(Cast Time of Spell) / 3.5

heheh....and if you have 1300+ bonus heal, and yet dunno how it works..ebay much?

so if u do have 1300+ heal, and you cast a 3.5sec heal spell, you will get +1300 (more or less), try casting naked, then putting all your gear and casting again

for gold earnings :

skinning - knothide leather. better still if you can find a LW who can turn it to Heavy Knothide leather or the scraps into Knothide Leather for free. a lot of professions need leather so it's in constant demand at the AH that it's usually out.

mining - thorium. surprisingly the bottleneck for lvling JC. and with a few months that BC has been out, it's still fetches premium prices. once u've leveled up to artisan mining, then get other kind of ores.

Watch the AH. See the prices for cloth (Silk, Mageweave, Runecloth) and leather (Thick, Rugged Leather) and ores (Tin, Iron, Mithril etc). If you find them ridiculous start farming your own and undercut it a little. Don't flood the AH by selling all your stacks at once, put up 3-4 stacks per item. Many high levels are switching to Tailoring, Blacksmithing and/or Leatherworking for the epic trainer patterns and some are willing to pay instead of farming the lowbie mats themselves.

Strength (Str) and Attack Power(AP) are related stats e.g. For warriors 1 Str = 2AP, so you would always pick a +1Str over +1AP. By conmparison, for rogues: 1 Str = 1AP and 1Agi=1AP.

Hit rating is a measure of ability to hit a mob. It is not directly related to Str and AP but it is important because even if you have 3K AP, when you miss your target all that awesome power is down the longkang.

hi, just start a rogue at lvl 54. just wander should i use sword or dagger ? which 1 should i focus on.

the sword seem have lot of critical damage but dagger can use ambush and backstap.

peanutz is right. but to give u a clearer answer, private servers are illegal blizzard servers. u won't like it much coz there's not enough ppl and also not safe for your PC i.e. prone to virus, keyloggers, etc.

Im survival spec hunter here.
You need at least 625agi (without talents) to be viable.
With talents, that around 710 agi.
Anything below that, you are kinda useless.
It is THE most gear dependant spec of hunters.
But when you reach the min stats, its very very rewarding.

Well, for pvp it depends.
If you are those that like to stand behind in AV/AB, multishotting stuff n getting easy honor n annoying healers with silencing, MM spec is for u.

Survival is abit tricky for pvp especially with the current pvp trinket buff.
Entrapment is annoying as hell for heavy melee gps in arena.
Survival's extra agi can be a curse or a blessing in surviving melee classes. I have around 25% dodge rate lol.
Its a curse when i meet warriors. But it gives you that extra edge to raptor strike n wingclip to backoff.
Extra crit n CC is generally fun.
I didnt spec to 41pt readiness coz i can get 21pt scattershot which is more useful.

Another question, why roll NE alliance ? Not gnome ( escape artist is uber )....sick of seeng lots of ne elf hunter,.....I'm ok with ne druid ( lore wise )

I remember my guild hunter friends all respec to BM after the last nerf to MM. And yeah, in PvP, they did recommend BM. Even seen was mentioning that she has problems dealing with BM hunters compared to MM hunters when it comes to pvp.

If you notice one thing about elves, is that it's usually a guy who has a penchant for silver hair. They don't call it white hair but silver. If you dare suggest that it's white hair, you'll get a reaction from them. Haha!

IMO, AB n Eye is easier to farm honor than AV.
Nearer graveyards= faster repop n zerg again = more honor.
Besides that, both of them don't have annoying npc kacau and game end faster too.

druids are ok, but its not a top class.

top classes are as follows (in order):

Warrior
paladin
warlock
priest
mage
shaman

not sure if theres much changes to the list but its based off the current world's top teams/actual statistics

even being horde, no holiday, AV would STILL give more honor. alliance farm from wins, we farm from killing them and taking the bases while they kill drek. theres one time horde got MORE honor than alliance even when they win, no joke.

dude, i agree with goblinsk8er. unless ur alliance in 61-70, i dont see how ure gonna farm more honor from av.

cap the entire map excluding FW/RH and have every officers killed, and + ur honor kills.

horde usually have twice if not more the ammount of alliance. it'll provide a good ammount of honor, provided you dont die all the time and spend most of ur time in the GY

Just god damn lazy to walk all the way from GY n fight again.
AB n Eye GY is so near from each other.
Hence, it promotes zerging=more honor

- farming SP

and why horde rake more honors than alliance.....

The queue time, AV to us is instant, just pray u play with only 5-10 afk, you're fine and 388 honors for 20 mins.

And calculate honor gain per hour ratio, ally usually wait 1 hour to get in slot to AV..so maybe 500 honors for them per hour..Horde 388 x 3 = almost 700++ hp.....

I recently begin to start farming some honor. But being reluctant to alwaz respec i go prot pvp using all my block value gear + dps crit gear. (i shield slam for 2k+ its pretty awesome haha) Anyway, a simple group of 5 ppl queuing at the same time can completely turn the game around. AV i feel is like a PVE BG instance. 1 tank 1 healer 3 dps. lol. 15-25min (depending on how many f***in cavemen/afkers) games for 500 honor or more. I did back to back avs for almost 4hrs and i came out wif 6k+ honor =p

Where as for eots,wsg,ab my f***in server recently have like a huge shortage of horde. Almost every game u enter i guarantee the game starts with horde being short-handed. So annoyinggggggggggggg. That's when i surrender and went to farm av.

hello guys, recently i've just play WoW using the 10 days free trial. And i wanted to ask is it possible to upgrade the account using gamecard coz i dont have cc or should i just create a new account? i'm bit lazy to do it coz my paladin already at lvl 15.

I love AV Especially when you're on the Alliance side because, usually there will be like 10-20 hordes afk every game

During the bonus AV weekend i can get 10k honor per day. But I had to skip most of the daily quests though.

Hey can tell me abit bout the daily quests? Been hearing ppl talking bout it and i'm now in the process of cleaing as many quest as i can, need the gold for epic fly mount.

there's 10 daily quests that you can do to earn gold. however, some of these quests are only open when you have 300 riding skill.

One is at the Sha'tari Skyguard. Think the starter quest guide is standing next to the Flight Master in Shattrath.

For the Ogrila ogres, also starts in Shattrath but I remember the Ogre down in LC merchant area was the 2nd quest giver.

The Netherwing is the 3rd group of ppl but those need 300 riding skill.

mm long way more to go then before i can get the 300 riding =/

me too. there's one quest that is open for sha'tari skyguards that i know. i'm just not sure about the other factions. u'll need to check wowhead or wowwiki for those details.

4 dailies for Sky guard (2 in terokar, 2 in blades edge)
2 dailies for Ogrilla (blades edge)
about 8 dailies for netherwing

Without the epic flying mount, you start the chain for daily quests from Shattrath City. One will bring you to Skettis, where you just do all the quests there until you're down to just 2 quests each day. Another one will bring you to Blade's Edge Mountains where you gotta perform a chain of 5-man quests. It'll lead you to Ogrila. There you can do 1 daily for Ogrila (2 after Honored or Revered can't remember) and 2 from the Skyguards.

So the most you can do is 6 dailies if you don't have 300 riding skill. Pretty easy money already since that's 12g x 6

Netherwing has 9 daily quests.

so far i only know of the 2 skettis one..
the bombing one and the rescue one, correct ??

will need to look into the Orgrila one later~
kinda lost at the moment not sure what to grind and such =/

more than a few thousand malaysian players may agree with you but there are workaround solutions. not effective ones but that's all we got at the moment.

never use a proxy server before. i'm not that internet savvy enough. i just take note of the IP and which ones are fast. i play behind a firewall + antivirus. the firewall helps, especially when you see the amount of incoming pings. especially for 60.52, every 1-2 ms there's 5-10 incoming pings.

oceanic is GMT+10 (sydney). it's easier to find ppl in oceanic servers since nearly the same timezone. US one, most parts of WoW is in darkness. some folks may argue that certain zones are already perpetually dark , true, but these are usually a minority. my pet peeve anyways.

If you're the solo player type, doesn't matter which server. But if you like group activities; questing, raiding, PVPing, then go oceanic. More people on during our time. I spent 2 years in a US EST server, they're 12hrs behind us, so I have to wake up early mornings to raid back then. Was a great experience game-wise, but hurts your daily life (if you plan to have/already have a daily life)

300 ~ 600 ms (yellow) is consider playable edi, be thankful.
Some of us have to do a marathon of tracert and ip resets for good ip daily.

Aint pretty, but nevertheless welcome to WoW !
Seeing as this is your fist time playing enjoy as much as you can while leveling.
And take the opportunities to do low level instance with fellow same level buddies.
Will help you a lot when you hit 70 and start doing higher lvl 5mans.

Dude u have to be patient with all this. You can't expect a miracle out of the box. I personally think its noobish to say 300ms on your WoW and you're regretting it. If the gameplay has no significant lags, then don't worry about the lat.

Start to notice which ips work best for your latency. Dc and reconnect until u get the IP range. Then WoW will be all good for you.

NOTE: Please don't bad mouth one of the most awesome game in the world right now becoz of a 1 day lag. Pisses me off greatly.

this is not a rant forum. if you want to rant about latency issues, go elsewhere.

there's already a lot of tips on which IP you can connect to improve streamyx latency or change ISP to either maxis or jaring.

either way, the info on how to play on faster line is on these forums.

so stop being a jerk complaining about this when you only just started the game.

My GM accidently ninja looted a hunter boots in Chess Event for some reason.
Send a ticket to GM n somehow he can transfer the loot to another guildie.

2. no updates
3. no population
4. unstable economy
5. plenty of bots and spammers
6. no notified down time


"real 'blizz'" aka Blizzard
1. Acceptable latency (300 ~ 500 ms)
2. Weekly updates to know bugs and issues and time to time there are contents updates.
3. Over 8 MILLION players World Wide
4. Stable economy
5. Botters and spammers are being curb everyday.
6. Down time will be notified 12 hours before, and its always on Tuesdays

So clearly "real 'Blizz'" is the winner there are more pros than cons compared to the "blizzlike" version.

ur default wow ui interface has a latency bar. on the left of ur bag slots, is ur keyring. on the left of it is ur latency bar.

bear in mind that the latency is dependant on a few things :

-the ISP you're on
-the IP you're on
-the time of day you're on as server population can increase latency
-the area u're in in WoW. SW can be nasty
-overall server population. older servers will have a higher latency than lower population (newer) servers.
