Guys, I am quite new at OC and AM2 but I have done enough reading. My upcoming rig is sth like

AM2 3600 Brisbane
Asus M2N-E
Kingmax 1gb X 2 800mhz
Asus Nvidia 8600GT

Why most of you didnt increase CPU multiplier to 10? And how come most of you guys not using 800mhz memory since it's cheap?

Kindly advise. Thanks.

I am building my new rig for OC. Hope you guys can chip in some suggestions.

I have bought some items such as:

Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe (wireless edition)
Powerlogic Atrix 500t (500w)
AMD Brisbane 4000+
Raidmax X-1 Gaming case

I need 2 more items:
A good brand of 8600GT (Asus/XFX/others)
Good value 6400 1GBX2 RAM (Kingmax/Corsair Twinx)

I notice got 1 shop selling the Corsair ram as follow:
Corsair Twin2X 2048-6400 (1GB x 2 800MHz ) @ RM399

Does it mean that the price is for 2 pieces of 1GB? Kindly advise. This rig is overbudget but what the heck.

looks good, but do get the processors that are made in msia, diffused in germany, they tend to oc better @lower volts and for th ram i think a tracer is better =), btw, the psu is nt really good, but its ok la...what gpu u getting?

btw, from experience in asus m2n series, they dont oc that well...maybe just unlucky la, but it wasnt a great exp 4 me

Mine Brisbane is made from Malaysia but I notice some 3600+ tend made in China. This is the best PSU that I can come up with my budget. It say 500W true power, hopefully it's good enough. I am looking for 8600GT as I am not heavy gamer, any suggestions?

Can somebody tell me the price of Corsair Twin 2X 1gbX2 6400 price? Is it good enough? My budget is over coz spend too much on the mobo. M2N32 SLI Deluxe is the one of the best OC boards for AM2. The one you refer is M2N-E/M2N-E SLi. The power/limit/bios is totally diff.

All Brisbanes can achieve around 3GHz, doesn't matter 3600+ or anything. But I'm not sure it can achieve same FSB as 3600+ use to achieve 3GHz, right?

Is it because of Vista that I can't get 3GHz?

You are right. I am using Brisbane 4000+ and my Asus Probe tool show it can go up to 3.7Ghz max~!

I need some advise on my OC. Still new in OC, I manage to OC little.

My Spec:
AMD Brisbane 4000+
Asus M2N32 Sli Deluxe
Corsair Twin2x 6400 1GBX2 CL5

From 2.1Ghz, I manage to up to 2.4ghz whithout any decrease in HT/Ram divider. I put vcore, vdimm (how 2 check current voltage?) as auto.

Core: 2400 mhz
Bus Speed: 230
Multiplier:10.5 (default auto)
Ram Speed: 402mhz (dual channel)
Vcore: 1.392 (Auto-CPU-Z able detect correctly as it is same in BIOS)

Questions:
1. How 2 check current vDimm?
2. Should I adjust my vcore if want to increase more? How much?
3. System is stable when manage to boot to windows. There are times when it system not able to boot from cold boot and reset will solve the issue. Is the vcore too low or auto issue?
4. How 2 check my Corsair's chipset?

1. I think u can check Vdimm n Vcore through your Asus Monitoring Program.
2. Cannot tell you exactly due to different hardwares yield different results. Remember to Orthos for around 8 hours to ensure stability. If not stable, it is either not enough Vdimm or Vcore. There are a lot of reasons why the system is not stable, but basically is like that.
3. A lot of reasons. If no oc, got cold boot?
4. What is the version of your corsair ram? There is a label on top of the ram. You can check it in one website, dunno where though laugh.gif

Remember to keep the HTLink under 1000Mhz to ensure stability.

Oh, thanks a lot for super quick reply. I can check V-core but didnt see V-dimm, is there any third party software? My mobo, ASUS M2N32 Sli Deluxe should able to run 1600mhz HT in stability. I do not have power on issue when I OC to 2.3GHZ, only when I up to 2.4GHZ from Bus speed 220 to 230.

If I put my vcore to auto, will it increase automatically to adjust its speed? Or I should put manual?

One of the computer shop offer me CM Aquagate Liquid cooling for both CPU and GPU for just RM399. Damn cheap as it is old model (those that can sit internally by occupying 2 bays). However, it just mention it support up to AMD 940 socket, I am not sure if AM2 can be supported. icon_question.gif

I am now running 2.94GHz (280 bus speed X 10.5 cpu multiplier). I found out that whenever I increase Ram divider to 7 from 6, the system goes unstable. Why?

Current, my ram Corsair CL5 6400 Twin2x 1GB X 2 @ 490mhz, running fine (even orthosing for 8 hours), vDimm 1.95v. However, if I decrease it to 420mhz at CL5, system unstable (blue screen, or Orthos fail). I tried vDimm at 1.9 - 1.95 but same. With lower speed, supposing the vDimm can be decreased.

Hard to reach 3GHz. Other spec as my sig.

Asus announce that several mobo like my M2N32 Sli Deluxe and M2N-E can be used for AM2+ after BIOS update. I am aiming for Quad Core Phenom soon.

Mr_47, we have similair setup. I reach 2.83ghz stable. Quite hard to go up. Please advise how much vcore i need to put for 2.9-3.0. My current vcore is 1.46 (but i set 1.44).

edit:M2N32-SLI shouldn't be prob to reach 3.0Ghz i think as it can pump up higher Vdimm compared to M2N-E.maybe u should lower a bit ur HT multiplier??
Need help. The highest stable so far is 2.83 ghz. I try the following after that:
-Lower HT to 4X (1120mhz)
-Lower Ram divider to 677 (420mhz), vdimm 1.9v
-increase vcore to 1.435 (but system show 1.488 in wndows/bios)

System still fail Orthos at 2.94ghz (280mhz bus speed, multiplier 10.5)

bro, lower ht 3x..keep under 1000
up the vdimm
try to stay at the lowest vcore

first lower ur mhz..
then orthos..
up ur mhz until fail..
push the vcore again
*
I try the following:
Bus Speed: 280 mhz
Multiplier: 10.5
Core Speed: 2940 mhz
Vcore: Set 1.45v, system show 1.5v

Memory Divider: 667 = 420mhz @ 1.9v
HT: 3X @ 840

Orthosing still fail. I can only reach 2.83 stable as per my sig. Any idea, is it proc limitation? Vcore is really high de. Temp is good after using Xigmatek n X-1. 38'C till 54'C
