Any comments on MSI's K9A-Platinum or ASUS M2A-MVP?

Both are AMD/ATi boards, lower power heat and usage, but previous reviews say that they aren't OCing quite good. Anyone can proof that/defy that?

it all depends on the bios feature
if the options are quite limited, then it can be considered sucky for overclocking.

but i believe most mainstream motherboard nowadays have at least the options to tweak basic memory timings and cpu clockspeed as well as ram voltage and cpu voltage. if any of these are absence, it means the board really sucks.

Hmm, reviews say the K9A Plat. is chock-loaded with features, but doesn't OC well in 1st BIOS version.

As for the ASUS M2A-MVP, I saw a thread where they say it doesn't support vcore laugh.gif but 5200+s could get over 3Ghz. I don't know if that's the revised version though.

At least 1 person has the latter board (on LYN) so I'm just asking.

wat so big a deal for 3ghz while intel now can go up to 4ghz...
3ghz is nothing to brag about...

By disabling EIST and Enhanced Halt, using super-expensive RAM, crazily expensive mobos and the like.

Yeah... worth bragging for I suppose. rolleyes.gif

(BTW I'm gonna try my Brisbane when my 2900 arrives. Hope I have enough stable power ROFL.)

How much should I keep my core temperature to?

Brisbane 3600+ here, 65 degrees CPU in ORTHOS on 2.5 normal?

Aww... shacks. I'm capped to 2.6. =(
The thing just won't budge- I've loosened the RAM as far as it will go (5-5-5-15-21), 3x HTT and 262 bus.

Any more room you reckon? Volts?
I thought the 480X chipsets overclocked way better than this.

Anyone want to try Black Edition on a lousy mobo?

If it can go up to 3.2 with good mem timings, I'm impressed.
