I would like to ask, between a 4000+ DD or 5200+ CZ which one is better for overclocking? I know the best Windsor for overclocking is CZ while Brisbane DD overclock much higher, but when both overclocked which one performs better? Anyone have some comparison between Windsor and Brisbane?

I have 3800+ CU right now and it simply can't overclock. At most it will reach 2.4GHz but it having a hard time cold booting, I'm tired of it

brisbane core can overclock much higher? i don't think so. So far i nv see any guy in LYN overclock his brisbane more than 3.2GHz and i don't think most of the brisbane capable to do that.
*
I thought Brisbane is much better overclocker than Windsor, guess I was wrong. How far can Windsor go?

QUOTE(AoiNatsume @ Sep 29 2007, 12:11 AM)
the correct way to say, brisbane is easier to overclock and does not require a great board to get it around 3ghz. On the other hand, windsor is harder to OC due to the heat/vcore and its pretty stubborn. But once you get a windsy up, its way faster than brisby clock per clock.
*
I know Windsor is faster than Brisbane clock per clock. Yeah the heat is killing me, and it require 1.4V to reach 2.4GHz and doesn't respond well when I feed more voltage

So what's the recommendation guys? 4000+ DD or 5200+ CZ? Of course the 5200+ is more expensive but if it worth it I'll buy it. Looks like nobody uses TForce 550 SE like me....if anyone have any experience overclocking using this board please share with me smile.gif

seems like if u change ur ram speed, u can oc higher?? brows.gif
*
I've done that, but at most it will reach 2.45GHz but I will got random BSOD and if it can actually load Windows, I can't run any heavy program or it will crash

It's pretty frustrating that I can't overclock X2 as good as my old Sempron 2500+ s754, it can reach 2.5GHz from 1.4GHz without needing any voltage increase, and in SuprePi it was faster than my X2!

If u got lucky and got good mobo etc, maybe  u can reach 3.0ghz from stock 2.0ghz..5200+ i think is good. but better if u can get F3 stepping as it can oc higher than F2.5200+ CZ is F3 stepping and i think its worth if u try it...... nod.gif

Thanks for the recommendation smile.gif

If you are mentioning windsor F3, then i would say that windsor F3 is much more better than brisbane , in terms of performance, overclock ability , as well as the temperature after overclocking. 65nm SOI from AMD is just a mess , they just simply make it in order to compete with their opponent.

i really fed up with brisbane core already bcoz it lacks in many things. The DTS spoiled , higher L2 cache latency ( this one caused the performance low ) , and the integrated memory controller also seem abit cacat .

A s754 proc can bench faster than am2 proc in Spi? shocking.gif Really hard to believe it as s754 proc does not support dual channel, suppose there will be a big gap in term of performance between these 2.

and how far can a windsor F3 go? Lately i'm bringing in some CZ goodies , we will see that very soon brows.gif
FYI, i'm a F3 windsor user now , highest clock that i hit is 3.35GHz. you can check OC database for my screenshot.

I agree with you about Brisbane, that' swhy I hold up my purchase, or I might as well buy 4000+ DD last night

Yup my Sempron 2.5GHz is 5 sec faster than my 2.4GHz X2 on 1M SuperPi, the Sempron got 35sec while the X2 is 40sec at 2.2GHz. Now the Sempron enjoy it's time off, on my friend PC which he didn't overclock tongue.gif

Wow good that Windsor can reach 3.3GHz. I still don't know whether I'm gonna buy it or not. Not really a heavy overclocker nowadays. I used to have P4 Northwood 2GHz reaching 3GHz before the Sempron. Looks like I have a bad CPU this time biggrin.gif

With a BIOS update, I no longer have any cold boot issue at 2.4GHz (running at 2.42GHz 242HTT now). Even a single 1HTT increase it will lockup in Prime95 (but games are fine). And it refuses to boot at 2.45GHz, any voltage, any RAM timing. I guess that's the limit of my processor

what is the current vcore are u using now???

what HSF??

sure cannot pass 2.45Ghz?
*
VCore 1.4V, using stock HSF. The highest temperature it ever get is 57C when running orthos. I'm pretty sure it can't even reach 2.45GHz, even when I lower the CPU multiplier it can't achieve higher HTT than what I use now doh.gif

k.. not same with vista.. actly just focusing on xp.. more game can play.. haha.. hardcore gamer.. i'm using my pc for design sofware n game.. it's up to pandangan masing2 rite... icon_rolleyes.gif

Nope even in XP you still need 2GB on modern games, try to play F.E.A.R Extraction Point full detail with 1GB RAM and see what I mean, jerky, long loading times and you can hear hard drive chatting when it uses page file. With 2GB everything went away just like that

My Biostar mobo died for no reason, bad timing too, during raya! Anyone experienced this before? I'm not fully overclocked it too, just run it at 2.2GHz. The PSU is fine, I tested it on other PC. Just the mobo won't start...I hope the RMA process at Viewnet ain't painful..
