but why should they want to discourage people from doing that? It frees up the counter staff for other things and increases demand for the funds by having more account holders, no?

I see and agree with your point. However, you'll be amazed how many people are not aware of how they can put their idle cash to work.
These are the people who proudly pay cash for a new car and think those who take loans are not wise.

Pro tip: when the TAC does not arrive after double of the usual time, I'll click "resend TAC" again. Then you will see two TACs sent and you select the latest TAC to key in.

Can, but if the new TAC comes in late because you wait too long and you tak sempat key in, the screen will time out.

Tried buying ASM, got the message "transaction not able to proceed" every time I tried.
Trying the rest just gave the usual "no unit" messages.

ASM - it used to be just impossible to have available units, not "unable to proceed".

Asm2/asm3 - no units available was mentioned by me just to show that the myasnb website was ok. Nothing to do with how hard I tried.
