I use the resizer that you can dowload from Microsoft.com:

Windows XP PowerToys: Image Resizer

Here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx

BTW, what is the meaning of PP?

but that only helps you resize.

it still doesn't help much in PPing.

you should look at stuff like GIMP
http://www.gimp.org

now THAT'S PPing tool biggrin.gif

Among all PP software, which is better for minor edits such as image correction and cropping?

I feel that adobe photoshop is an overkill to do simple adjustment on a picture. I never tried adobe lightroom or GIMP though.

yeah that's the thing.

adobe photoshop is a very powerful application but it comes at a cost.

i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it BUT to do i would certainly be advocating pirated copies, after all who on earth would spend RM 2 - 3k just for photo editing? smile.gif

so what's the next best choice? GIMP!!! i use it on my Mac but then the interface, you'll just have to get used to it - especially if you're a photoshop user.

i'm sure it's sufficient for photo editing, for example framing your pictures in a black border, then adjusting the photo to fit with Rules of Third, then adding watermark, sharpening, saturation, color balance, contrast bablablabla.

GIMP covers more than that already.

Ahaha.. Then anyone used ACDSee 9? I used to have ACDSee 7 as it was bundled with my laptop. I find it slowing down my computer after time as it is highly integrated with windows operating system.

Maybe I should give GIMP a try, or try the 30 day Lightroom trial.

Hehe.. I downloaded the trial version from adobe last night. It looks cool. Simple and easy to use, although I'm still not very familiar with its controls. To my opinion, it's just for minor touch up such as cropping, balance control and resizing. It does not provide any tools (yet to be discovered) for photoshopping, not even minor ones.

what i meant was that let's say you're using someone else's machine - they might not have photoshop. you can't download it (unless you want to use the trial copy......i think they have).

so what can you do? use GIMP!! biggrin.gif can carry along in your thumbdrive and install anywhere also.

it's free too. GIMP is on my Windows, Linux and Mac machines. wink.gif

yeah. Picasa is neat too. smile.gif i'm just introducing GIMP just in case anyone wants something that's more like photoshop.

Picasa is great for something simple, minimalistic, easier learning curve. i also have Picasa. wink.gif

Paint Shop Pro version 10. Bought online for S$30+ only.
Many, many, features for the newbie but if you want advanced stuff like HDR and liquify tool, then better look at Photoshop.
