Hi guys,

I’m interested on signing the i150 package as I only can have 4Mbps Screamyx in my house (a 3rd tier town in Kedah). With the package, I’m sharing with my parents, and my brother’s family (its a terrace with 3 houses sharing 1 internet).

I just check with digi coverage map and I should get 4G+.

What should I check before I subscribe for i150 other then the coverage map?

We are more on streaming video and if the speed is promising, I will get a tvbox for myself. For gaming, me and my brother play mobile online games like Mobile Legends. Do you guys think i150 can handle it well?

Thanks

buy digi prepaid internet
test internet speed & coverage congested or not
if download/streaming & play online game simultaneously, ping spikes

But I heard from my friend, who was agent of digi, he told me i150 will entitle different performance compare with prepaid or other postpaid plan.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

If with prepaid plan can show true color of digi in my area, then i will get that to try out dulu.

speedtest many time..
peak hour & off peak hour
usually early morning & late night less congested

if digi suck, only rugi rm20

compare to i150, need 2 month advance payment (new user/mnp/prepaid convert)

Alright, i already bought the prepaid sim card tru the web. Will try out n see hows the line performed.

Bought and tried the DiGi card with Cili Padi RM8 daily unlimited package. The card is cucuk inside my old iPhone 6S and also use my iPhons XS for some minor testing.

Today @7AM mark the 1st day of the testing.

This is what I found:-
1. My area only has Band 3 and 7
2. Both Band are around
Indoor
Band 3 RSRQ -13.5 RSRP -103
Band 7 RSRQ -10.5 RSRP - 108
Outdoor
Band 3 RSRQ -13.5 RSRP -102
Band 7 RSRQ -14.5 RSRP - 102
3. My speedtest (OKLA target DiGi Shah Alam and fast.com)
OKLA = minimum 20Mbps maximum 26Mbps
Fast = minimum 15Mbps maximum 37Mbps
4. I did some testing with my iPhone Xs. I can get stable 26-30Mbps (indoor) and 50Mbps+ (Outdoor). It seems like iPhone Xs has better antenna/receiver.

I will take 1 week to try it out before I subscribe the i150 package. For the 1st day, this is quite fascinating for me.

Dude, it is not a same level comparison at all.

iPhone XS has some advantages over the old trusty iPhone 6s, like the MIMO.
*
Actually my intention is not to see Xs better or 6S is better.

I’m just looking for a stable and better broadband to takeover my 4Mbps streamyx.

And it do give me a big insight on how MIMO can make the internet run better as I always sceptic how the Huawei B618 can make the internet run faster then a phone. Now its clear to me.

RSRP not so strong... if want stable better use modem..

get rsrp below 90dbm, sinr>10dbm
*
Yeah, I’m thinking of getting a B618-65D and try out the tru potential.

So far, I’m very happy with the speed, I can get a fairly smooth 20+Mbps truout the day and I can watch some shows in Astro GO without hiccups.

I will get a modem to try it out, if the modem can give me 90dbm and sinr>10dbm. I will subscribe the package without 2nd thought.

no need specifically b618-65d.

b618-22d, b715 also can. both are just same 4x4mimo n 4G+ & volte support.

shopee selling cheaper for b618-22d tmobile import set.

There are risk of taking 22d of getting your modem locked permanently.
*
Yeah, i read of somewhere too. The auto update will locked your modem. Which, I dont want to take the risk.

N VoLTE is not native in 22D. Plus, 65D is Band 5 and Band 40 support, who knows in near future I may need the band to get a better reception or maybe unifi air will come to the town.

Well it’s expected that the fixed 4G modem router would have better receiving power as it is able to draw power source directly from the power socket.

Smartphone has a design limit set by regulation and also the power limit because of energy conservation.
*
I was thinking the same.

I bought the B618-65D V11 from Andrew’s e-store with 35dBi antenna, just in case.

Up until today, i can get very firm 20-25Mbps (3Bars) from 7AM until 12AM with my iPhone 6S and about 30Mbps (3Bars) in the midnight.

Even thunderstorms I can get 15Mbps~ (2Bars).

I’m pretty happy with the performance and stability the DiGi has provides in my place. I can watch Astro Go in HD while playing facebooks or online games without hiccups. Also, I can get about 1-1.5MBps @ the day time while 2.5-3MBps after 12AM when download GBs big files.

I’m keen to see how much of improvement the B618 modem can present.

Will update you guys after I got the modem.

Im deciding to get either B525 or B618 with limited budget. The info that i have gathered was, B618 supports 4x4 mimo while B525 supports only 2x2.

My question, why is there any advantage of getting B618 if Digi does not have 4x4? and B525 is half of B618's price.
*
B618 is CAT9/11 LTE while B525 is CAT6

Theoretically, CAT9 has much better speed then CAT6. But I know celcom can support CAT9, i assume DiGi can too.

Edit:
My iPhone 6S is CAT6 while iPhone XS is CAT16.
With same card, same place, my iPhone 6S can go 15-50Mbps. However my XS can go from 30-80Mbps

you are using Digi on your iphone to test?
*
Ofcoz. Otherwise i wont say it.

I just check the web. iP6s has 2x2 mimo while Xs has 4x4 mimo.

Other than that, the different will be CAT 6 vs CAT 16.

Let say 4x4 mimo wont do any good for DiGi compare to 2x2, then the only reason left bhinds the DiGi speed different should b the CAT different.

depends on your indoor signal coverage. 4x4mimo internal antenna definately signal are stronger than 2x2mimo modem.
[attachmentid=10472682]

if indoor signal are good. single band 4G wont have much different even 4g vs 4G+ modem. unless u running 4G+ on your area.

My place got band 3(1800) and band 7(2600).

Wonder will have 4x4 for me or not.

Edit:
Although i got 3 Bars (-110 ~ -100dBi) for both band 3 n 7
But my SINR the best is just 12dBi only with my iPhone XS.

Somehow my iPhone 6S cant read the SINR reading.

But yeah, with these, my iPhone Xs still manage to get 47Mbps on ookla speedtest and 40Mbps on fast.com

While my iPhone 6s only manage to get about 30Mbps for both ookla and fast.com

Sorry another noob question, why the i150 is the more popular plan. While the cheaper i100 can be paired with a modded b618/b525 modem to bypass the hotspot limit?
*
Why u never check the website?

i100 speed up to 10Mbps only

Finally got my B618-65D, get Hmanager, and set my band to B3+7.

Tested with auto mode, single band, n 3+7. Band 3+7 give me most stable and highest results from fast.com and ookla’s speedtest.

Attached Image

The speed was pretty stable. I tried to download a 1GB files and it took 7 mins to complete. So the download speed is about 2.3MBps or 18Mbps averagely.

As of the line quality.. it wasnt that good with 35dBi antenna.

Attached Image

Been running around the house ans tried outdoor, this is the best i could get. And most of the time the SINR can drop until -1dBi, which is very poor. However, still manage to get 50Mbps tru speedtest when it is -1dBi.

avoid modem brand others than huawei. mr600 just a 4G modem. if u got budget limited can try b310 or the b818 taiwan model 4G modem. least or not they can lock band. others brand are unable to lock band as cant use hmanager too. if your indoor signal not good, u really need to learn read the signal and find a best spot to locate the modem for u to get a stable connection n good speed.
rsrp seem high, try find spot with rsrp<90db, sinr >10. any of this low, speed will drop.

i been talk a whole round around my house and outdoor dy with external antenna. The best i can get is 17dBi but always jump down to 0 from time to time.

day time i still can get 4G+, but when night time, shows 4G only with stable speed of around 40Mbps.

Suddenly been around 30Mbps for the whole night due to no 4G+ connectivity.

Then now, got 4G+ and my speed go back to 60+Mbps.

Is there anyway to lock my band to 4G+ always?

From my understanding (correct me if im wrong im still new to this)

B618s-22d - There are 2 version, one is locked to only celcom sim (cheaper), and there's modded & unlocked version which can be used by all sim (slightly expensive).

B618s-65d - no reported lock unit. Can be used by all sim card telco. But most of the firmware for this unit is V81 which means future modding is not possible. Very expensive. Good if you're using i150 plan.

It's all boil down to your own preference. I decided to go with the 65d since i dont really need the modding part & it support Volte out of the box.
It also come with official Huawei warranty 1 year.
*
FYI,

65D can support Band 5 and Band 40, which is able to use for Unifi Air so more tower in malaysia is supported.

As of VoLTE,
I read somewhere they said they u make phone call, 4G will automatic reconnect to 3G. If you set your modem to always connect to 4G, then your VoLTE will automatically shut.

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Also, 65D not able to update firmware, may brick/lock-sim. 22D nvm since it is already lock-sim, and can lock band without the help of 3rd party software.

Now Digi can connect to VoLTE even on 4G only.

Ahhh... okok thanks for the clarification.

Back to my previous finding,

I found a place by putting my antenna to my roof top and i can get max 25dBi on SINR (previously was less then 10dBi)

The max speed i can go is 140Mbps at the morning.

Thats normal.

When u start download files or speed is needed, then u will see 4G+ already
