QUOTE(versey @ Oct 26 2018, 05:54 PM) I finally installed clearplex protection pro. Perfect fit.QUOTE(David83 @ Oct 26 2018, 06:02 PM) QUOTE(klampers @ Oct 26 2018, 06:07 PM) i set up both fingerprint and face unlock. And face unlock is always the first to unlock the phone. Fingerprint sensor I think is a tad slower. |

i also have the same issue.
I enjoy testing phones, so my secondary phone have been changing from Pixel 2 XL, V30+, U12+, Key2, Mi8, G7+, and now Mate 20 Pro. But I still have to maintain samsung (Note 8, s9 plus to note 9) for my primary phone due the convenience of Samsung Pay and its rewards... if only Mate 20 Pro has the same feature, definitely will be perfect. |

QUOTE(hz428 @ Nov 5 2018, 02:28 PM) After verify with all the source here, my panel is LG and and batch 51.there is some green tnt leak on the sides. What I don't like is how the sales people handle it, how can they act dumb and said 'is normal". Coming from iPhone and thinking they are different this time, what a big let down from huawei. If issue like this happen at apple Malaysia they will immediately give a 1 to 1 change. Now spending so much and need to rush here and there and argue with the frontdesk just for a change. The dumb one is the individual. Yesterday i went to huawei in pavillion asking for nm card. I asked the guy and he was damn clueless what is nm card. Lol.Not try to back anyone. But I have experienced RMA with few manufacturers, among them are Apple, Samsung, HTC. For apple, since here is just authorised service center, they won't simply give immediate replacement unless the issue has been officially announced by Apple and there is a replacement program for it. For normal RMA, yes they normally give 1 to 1 replacement (can be new unit or Apple refurbished unit) but only after they consult the 2nd tier support which is normally based in SG. Since u said the huawei sales people handled it poorly, i am pretty sure those sales people at Apple reseller outlet cant do much better except to ask you to go to service center. |

QUOTE(Ah hao @ Nov 7 2018, 08:39 AM) My phone Green light only show up when you dim the brightness to lowest and on flashlight when scanning bar code Yes. I tested in very dark room, dim the screen to the lowest, open the camera bar code. By default the flashlight is switch on, i then turn it off to take picture. Both has no green tint yet/so far. |

QUOTE(Tr1Angel @ Nov 7 2018, 09:04 AM) Maybe u try the apps with dark background instead of camera, I turned on ultra saving mode with blk background completely fine. QUOTE(kinseong @ Nov 7 2018, 10:28 AM) The more accurate test would be with a grey background and not black/dark background. For example, the number pad on the default dialer or Google Clock. Honestly, i tried with display pixel tester apps first before took picture with camera and shared it here. Because almost everyone share camera app |

QUOTE(off_shore @ Nov 7 2018, 02:54 PM) Well it's the same standard across manufacturers. samsung reduced the red hue due to issue with pink tint back then in galaxy s8 / s8 plus. Same goes to google - reduce brightness by 50nits on pixel 2 xl due to burnin issue. While I agree this shouldn't happen at the first place, and Huawei should handle it better, i believe we rarely use our device at the dimmest display at all time. My suggestion for now is just overcome it by increase brightness a lil bit, enjoy the phone normally while waiting for Huawei MY to release a statement. Remember, despite the screen issue, mate 20 pro is still an amazing device. |

QUOTE(off_shore @ Nov 8 2018, 07:45 AM) Even without using the phone in the dimmest display, I can see the discoloration at both sides clearly. The green tint is not very visible but its the two white bars.. I feel agigitated looking at it. Feeling to sell the phone now not knowing if I can even claim any warranty seeing there are many worse conditions phones out there. Try change the ui to dark theme? |

QUOTE(wsho71 @ Nov 8 2018, 06:26 PM) I believe it is selective, but the most important is if the issue can occurs on all smartphones or not. So far my phone is fine, but since Huawei hasn't give any official statement, i can just hope for the best.Btw just got a mate 20 x. It is one freaking big phone. |

Sorry for late reply. was really busy today.
Regarding the mate 20 x, this is my short first impression after around 36 hours of usage. Screen: It's gigantic. The last time i had such a big device was a tablet, the google nexus 7. Well I already expected such a big device, but as people who likes to keep everything small (i set display to the smallest in my mate 20 pro, pixel 3 and note 9), i find this mate 20 x a bit unpleasant with such big icons. However, as other big screen devices, watching youtube is nice - the colour is just as pleasant as it should be. Enough vibrant to distance it from too natural image and not too saturated like some oled devices. But the most importantly, the panel is made by Samsung and so far no greentint. Regarding the M-Pen, it is sensitive enough for normal draw, taking notes etc. but having note 9 and it's s-pen as benchmark, I still feel huawei m-pen lacks the natural feeling that samsung note 9 offers. and it's a shame Huawei unable to keep the m-pen slide into such a big device. Form factor: Despite it's huge 7.2" screen, i still can fit it in my back jeans pocket while walking. front pocket is impossible unless you wear straight or loose cut jeans. The quaility is solid, and feels good in hand. bear in mind, i just use the free clear case. I believe 3rd party case like spigen or ringke will definitely turns this device fall into a bulky category. Battery: Superb. this is one of the very few devices that keeps me wonder if I should it at night. to be honest, so far within 36 hours, I just charged it to full once (the time i collected the phone), and others just a 'topup' charge. Performance: Fast, smooth, exactly like mate 20 pro. Camera: Still images is great, similar like mate 20 pro, but video quality is not as good as mate 20 pro. the dynamic range is a bit off imho. Speaker: Exactly like mate 20 pro, but seriously it's loud - which means it manages to overcome mate 20 pro soft loudspeaker. I'm not audiophile, but i prefer sounds on my note 9 and pixel 3. Here mate 20x also has an advantage of 3.5mm jack. Summary: I bought it to compliment my note 9 and pixel 3. Since i will pass my mate 20 pro to my mom, I feel mate 20 x is a perfect 3rd device for me that will most of the time act as a powerful phablet with great camera. Pros: + Louder speaker than mate 20 pro + solid design and built quality for such a big device + M-Pen is good, only if you havent really use or attached to the quality of S-Pen in Galaxy Note 9 Cons: - no ip rating - screen not crisp and sharp due to it's big size and only full HD resolution - No slot to keep M-Pen inside the device Overall, IMHO, Mate 20 X is a good device for you if: 1- You really need such a big screen and dont mind Full HD+ resolution 2- You need of Pen/Stylus, but dont like curve screen of samsung galaxy note 9. 3- like me, this is a 2nd or extra phone to compliment your smaller and more convenient primary phone IMHO Mate 20 X is not for you if: 1- Your eyes are particular with details and resolution 2- You always wear tight pants / have small hands 3- You are not into gaming or watching video 4- You heavily in need of superb pen/stylus - galaxy note 9 is definitely in another level. 5- you like capturing video, especially under bright sunlight Also, on a side note, my advice for mate 20 pro users, you better wait for huawei MY to give statement regarding the green tint issue instead of jump to this mate 20 X. Mate 20 Pro is definitely a better device. This post has been edited by irenic: Nov 11 2018, 05:39 AM |
