I think previously someone managed to get a SP as free gift and someone managed to find people to install Clearplex. More should be coming in few weeks time due to its popularity.

I used the RM 150 voucher for free front screen Clearplex SP at Huawei Flagship Store at Pavillion Elite. It is claimed to be used by NASA outer space exploration. First impression on the SP is good. They applied it nicely. I think the touch feel is also better than Clearcoat.

So far the battery life is awesome. Finger print scanner seems not yet perfect. Din really use much yet cos bz setting the phone after more than half a day queueing up. Hahaha. Anyone using the finger print scanner, is it working perfectly?

Got Mate 20 Pro today morning. Been playing for it the whole day.

Pros -

1. look at battery charging is actually super satisfying. (screen will show charging % for first few second, move super fast)

2. twilight color sooooooooooooo pretty.

3. picture taken are very impressive in general, especially Ultra Wide Angle. Macro mode are superb as well.

4. excellent face id (with raise to wake function)

5. Ultra snapshot - when screen is off, u press 2 times volume down button, it will instantly take a picture. Blazing fast and autofocus are all focus correctly. But i hope Huawei can put an option that the phone secretly took the picture without turning the screen and camera app on. (im not doing anything against the law )

Cons -

1. finger print scanner not so good. i dont mind the pressure pressing thing, but the fail rate are quite high. it need certain angle to make it work. In my last phone, i register my right hand big thumb twice in 2 different fingerprint, to make it almost 100% success rate, but Emui will prevent user doing it by showing "same fingerprint registered"

2. when zoom in photo u took, u will clearly sees that the photo were over processed. my friend's white cotton shirt were found shining (like silk surface) when zooming in.

3. another camera problem - front selfie doesnt support potrait mode(background blur) ? Already on master AI. Cant select background blur, dont know why.

4. after use for a day, i think this phone is a bit oversize for me. previously using samsung s7 edge.

5. in auto brightness, screen a little bit too bright for my preference.

6. another camera problem - timer is deep in camera setting, quite troublesome, wish this setting is on camera interface. samsung have a very good function when u showing ur palm to camera, it begin 3 seconds countdown and take the picture, i miss this function a lot.

7. Twilight back cover are fingerprint magnet. Love and Hate situation here, beauty with grease on it.


Overall, i love this phone. Up to my expectation. Will use this phone totally naked with no SP and back cover, hope it wont scratch that soon

It's pretty much like iOS with lots of bloatware.
Coming from pixel, I'm afraid you will not use it for long.
I downgrade from p20 pro to pixel 2 for the sake of pixel experience.
P20 pro do have many advantages over pixel but still i go back to pixel.

The camera is fine and very flexible, you can zoom up to 5x, night mode is fine. But i think night sight is better.
Front facing camera, definitely pixel is better.
Main camera i think p20 pro is better overall.
In pie beta, they tone down a lot on AI over processing like in previous version

Both is my phone. And just for photography purpose to show that the mate 20 pro wireless charger did work with iPhone

why would you say P20p camera better than M20p?

Last week I've tried on display set on both Mate 20 pro and Samsung Note 9. Here's my personal experience:

I use a lot of video recording using mobile phone especially 60fps and 4K videos, but sadly Mate 20 pro quite disappointed me (cos I've been expecting improvement in video quality for Mate 20 pro). The reason is the video quality ain't good in terms of smoothness (same like my Mate 10). You can feel the video lags, especially you record in FHD 60fps and 4K. The only thing that impress me is its stabilization. Wide angle video looks good too, but still the video lags.

I really prefer Samsung Note 9 for video recording. Especially recording in 60fps on both FHD and QHD, the video really smooth. I love its 4K 60fps video a lot, but the only down side is there is only 5 min limit in this mode. No doubt Note 9 owns Mate 20 pro for video recording quality in terms of smoothness.

Mate 20 Pro:
- Good wide angle video, but it lags
- Great stabilization (you can almost throw away your gimbal)
- 4K : laggy + 10 min limit
- FHD 60fps : lags on each second (same like Mate 10)

Samsung Note 9:
- 4K 60fps : impressed by its smoothness, but 5 min recording limit
- 4K 30fps : a bit better than Mate 20 pro, 10 min recording limit
- FHD 60fps : smoothness is awesome, but 10 min recording limit


**This is my own preference, test to decide yourself.

Actually there is gesture action to take long screenshot on Mate 20 Pro. After taking journal screenshot (knock 2 times on screen with your knuckle or pressing power+volume down simultaneously), you can drag the small preview down to activate it.
