mate 20 pro pawn note 9 in battery test for breakfast

*
Actually battery test is kinda pointless for high end frag ship.
I mean, if the difference is small (Around 1 hours).
If the difference is big, then need to consider. biggrin.gif

There are midrange phone with superb battery life. Even better than flag ship. Eg, Mi Max, Asus Zenfone M1 Pro. Those with 5000mAh battery.

1 hour is huge, considering nowadays flagship have much closer in battery capacity

that 1 hour can make a difference between you having charge before u sleep or charge it half way there.

no need to put midrange into the context, once u go flagship, you're wont look back. if you're fine with mid range, you won't even enter here.
*
Not quite agree with you. Haha.. I came from mid range. Once you sensitive to this 1 hour battery life, is hard for you to use flag ship. Especially nowadays midrange phone with powerful processor and camera as well. You can't image how far can a midrange go when come to battery life. 7-8 SOT is consider normal. Some user can stretch even more.

I am trying to tell myself don't be so sensitive to battery life so that I can use my M20 pro happily. tongue.gif

That means so far we are still safe yet. Touch wood first.
1 hr is huge difference man. Imagine in just 40 mins ur phone already fully charged as compared to 1hr40mins. Assuming u didnt charge ur phone when battery is dead.

Unless u r those that can live with phone not nearby u for few hrs. For me i check like every 30 mins to see if it is full charged..
*
You suggest that I should go back to mid range which can easily get 10 hours of SOT? No, right?
I mean I cannot be too sensitive to battery life, coz there is midrange phone out there totally beat Mate 20 Pro to the ground in term of battery life. tongue.gif

That's why I said it is pointless. Else I will suffer on OCD in battery life after change to mate 20 pro. haha..

why put midrange into the topic? if you like ur midrange so much you won't spend rm3k into mate 20 pro

my video that you just commented is about flagship

i said mate 20 pro pawned other flagship in battery

suddenly you said 1 hour sot more than other flagship(nearest note 9,other even more) dont count as big difference and mid range can clock more

the video comparing between flagships bro, not ur redmi xxxx or dono what m1 pro max
*
Ya, that's the reason why I am using Mate 20 pro. coz I cannot simply take battery life as a point to use this phone. Else I will start to miss the midrange battery life.

Look serious , but under normal circumstances really cannot notice at all.

Have to set lowest brightness then in extreme dark place just can see this green light.
*
This one different la. Is because of the curve.
All OLED screen will have off color in different angle.
You try to rotate your phone so that the curve is 0 degree towards your eye.
Then you will notice the curve no green light, but the rest of the screen is green.

So many free gift. Remove the gift and bring down the price la... We want phone and not coffee machine la
*
You buy a products A with RM 10 and products B with RM 1 from supplier.
Products A market price = RM 100
Products B Market price = RM 50

You sell Products A with Products B as free gift. And tell the whole world you give RM 50 as free gift.
But in fact, you only need to lost RM 1 to increase the sales.

Get the logic?

Those free gifts I get from my Mate 20 Pro, I sold out at half price. To get instant discount. tongue.gif

Same here. I wait and see cos some bring to SC and was told by SC that this is "normal". No heard any can exchange yet.
*
Is normal in the sense that is LG screen design "limitations" or "issue".

Coz every mate 2 pro with LG screen has the green tint issue including me.

It is good if they allow us to exchange. What I'm afraid is they solve it by using software which is to increase your lowest brightness. Cox the green tint only saw in very dark environment plus very dim screen with grey wallpaper. The green will go way when you increase the screen brightness.

Suddenly i feel ripped off for a device which cost RM3699 that considers green tint as normal..................... Samsung mid-range display doesn't even have such issue.

BTW, is P20 pro using LG panel too? I really believed this is something to deal with GLUE since the discoloration and green tint is coming out from the curve sides.
*
Mid range no curve screen la aiyo...

I also have green, but is minimal.
To be honest, rarely notice the screen.

Those photo you guys post, really serious. And makes me wonder that is a green picture. Haha...

My M20P also LG screen.

wanna ask whether your case the green tints actually affected normal usage under normal lighting brightness? for example in office lighting, outdoor, dim restaurant? is the green tint visible when not in lowest brightness setting or dark grey color background? thanks! I asked this because want to know how bad it could affect usability in the future.. thanks bro!  thumbsup.gif
*
Nope, it only happen in lowest brightness and in a completely dark room.
Once you turn your brightness lightly up (like 10%). then green tint is gone.

That is my case.

They were saying this is normal for oled screen. Not indicating whether is curve or not curve.
*
Erm.. when view from side they color is off.
I think that is what they refer to.
This happened to Pixel before, if I remember correctly.

I think LG OLED technology is not as mature like Samsung OLED. Is their design limitation.
That's why they don't think is a problem..

I read from China forum, some claim that the BOE screen don't have green tint, but the lowest brightness is bright.
I am guessing BOE is smart enough to contained the issue by increase the lowest brightness of the screen.

I bet for next firmware update, Huawei might also will limit the lowest brightness so that the green tint will go off.

I am more a technical person. I hope the information that I provided sufficient to provide you guys a better idea of what is actually happening.

I don't have the severe edge green bleeding that you guys talking about. It is weird.

My brother P20 Pro vs my Mate 20 Pro. (Mine is LG panel)
Photo took by iPhone 7 Plus.

Attached Image

Left is P20 Pro
Right is Mate 20 Pro.

P20 Pro top are greenish.
Mate 20 Pro overally are greenish.

But if you look closely, Mate 20 Pro is not Green. It is lack of blue color.
To prove that I am right.

I used some apps (Color Detector) to measure the image RGB,

Attached Image
Attached Image

Mate 20 Pro RGB is (50, 56, 44) (High green, low blue)
P20 Pro RGB is (63,66, 73) (High blue, green and red nearly same)

It looks like what I need to do for my Mate 20 Pro to become the color like P20 Pro is to changing the display color temperature to a "Cooler" color.

Too bad the display temperature that allow us to config in the Display settings can't drastically tune the display color temperature.

So, I was thinking, It is like software issue in stead of hardware. I might be wrong.

And photo looks more obvious than naked eye.

I like your detailed experiment and explanation.

It maybe partly true but what about the spreading? To me, it's more of something is happening inside the screen.
*
The spreading for me is more like because the screen is curve.

The P20 Pro top side also slightly "greenish" compare with middle.

Infinity Flex Display. Yay! Samsung new One UI which is based on 9 Pie looks better than EMUI I think.

By the way, if not because of the screen issue, Mate 20 Pro is an overall great phone of 2018 with a complete package.
*
For those flagship phone...
I have to admit EMUI is the worst.

There is a lot of small animation which EMUI is unable to pick up compare with Samsung and MIUI.

Another green tint analysis compared with Galaxy Note 8

I compared my Mate 20 Pro with my friend Galaxy Note 8.

Guess what...

Mate 20 Pro have Green Tint
Galaxy Note 8 have Red Tint

dry.gif sweat.gif hmm.gif

So, it looks like LG have different way to handle the low brightness compared with Samsung.

Below is the photo that took using my iPad Pro. In a complete dark room.
Please note that the photo looks much more obvious than naked eye due to auto long exposure.

The different is not as much as you see in the photo. Especially the screen "evenness". LG OLED looks not as smooth/even Samsung OLED. Well, if the Mate 20 Pro cost RM 4599, I am pretty sure we can get same smooth/even OLED quality.

Hope it helps to answer you guys some doubts.

Below is one of the Mate 20 Pro green tint issue video explain I saw in Youtube last night. The good things about the video is the reviewer he tune down the exposure time of recording camera to show you what's the naked eye view.

Green tint issue is there last time in Samsung earlier amoled phone but it no longer happen very long time already. I believe Samsung already known how to solved this issue.

I think what you refer is the green bleed in the curve. Is different from the overall green tint I guess?
I remember Google Pixel have this overall tint as well, it is called blue tint. tongue.gif
