Anyone went with Celcom's Easy Phone? I could call the CS but it's already past midnight, and I have doubts on their ability to answer my question sweat.gif

I've been a customer for over a year, and was not charged anything for taking the phone. However, going over the receipt, I noticed a rather disturbing item:

"Easy Phone Penalty 2.0" amounting to RM 4944.00, which says "Charge applied to next bill".

When I asked the guy, he said there will be no upfront charges, just the monthly charge of RM 187.

Anyone knows what that charge is?

EDIT:

Seems like the 4944 is the penalty for cancelling before the contract runs its course. Not sure how that relates to my bill. I'll be calling Celcom tomorrow to check...unless someone answers first. Heh.

The answer is no.
That is the penalty if you port out or cancel your contract before fully paying off your phone. That is why buyers must beware of buying sets from sellers. There is one seller on marketplace selling such sets at a very good price. Beware if the original buyer didn't pay up on his ezyphone installments, Celcom will block your imei and your phone will become a paper weight.  laugh.gif

Thanks a lot for that! I thought that must've been the case but it was very poorly worded sweat.gif

While we're on the subject of Celcom, anyone went with their Phone Care? It's only RM 18/month for Swap or RM 35/month for Replace. Details here

Swap seems to be like an Apple Care plus almost. Swap charges at RM 710.

Thoughts anyone?

I in dilemma to buy xs or max. I went to Switch and tried both phones. I prefer xs because the size is comfortable to hold, screen size just nice while max is quite big and heavy.
Why you guys here prefer max instead? Pls state your reason so I can decide properly.
*
If you were coming from the plus, and have larger than average hands, one-handed use is still possible. I was dead set on the XS then my wife saw me holding the phone and said it looked like a borrowed phone. May be biased since she's seen me with a 6S plus for almost three years laugh.gif

So I went with the Max coz my wife said it suited me more. Played with it and one handed use is just the same as using my old phone. Some reviewers said it'd be harder to reach the top because of the "All Screen" design. That is false if your hands are sufficiently large.

If you've tried both, and you seem to be leaning to the Xs, why not just go ahead with it? What was your old phone?

Currently 7plus and I am skinny guy with small hand😅. Xs just feel nice when im holding it. Max win my heart by its attractive big screen but not fit properly in my hand.
*
The method I use to see if the phone is too big, is to try and reach the top left of the screen with my thumb (I'm right handed, so do the opposite if you're a left). I notice only the larger iPhones are balanced well enough (for me) to achieve this feat whilst still having a somewhat secure hold on the phone. With the 6S Plus, the phone was a tad slippery so that was a bit risky. Could be mitigated by using a casing or bumper to add some grip to it.

If you were from the 7 Plus, did you have to use the phone with two hands, or could you use it one-handed? If during the time you used your old phone, and you didn't really have a time of "Man, I wished I got the 7 instead", then you should be good with the Max.

The weight as I've quoted below, is really negligible. Physical size is almost exactly, if not exactly the same. Like I said before, I could still use the Max one-handed, albeit a bit harder (especially if driving Don't text and drive folks. Bad bad idea)

Another plus point to the Max, if you're getting black and putting it in casing, people won't notice is the newer phone. Can keep a low profile.

One thing to note if you're used to a bigger phone, using a smaller phone two-handed makes it feel like a toy. A very odd feeling.

I went with the Max coz already tried the X and the Xs is not that big a difference over the X. The larger screen size is a big plus point, and if you’re used to having a 7 Plus, the physical size isn’t that much bigger but it is a tad bit heavier. Of course the Xs is much better for single-handed usage.

Currently using 7plus and need to use both hand since my thumb cannot reach the upper icon or the other side apps icon. And yeah totally agree about the feeling when holding the smaller phone. Feel like playing with a toy and downgrade the phone. Looking at all the feedback, I think it is worth it to buy max.

A few questions for you so you don't get buyer's remorse later:

1) Are you ok with using the phone with two hands?
2) As mentioned by ykgen, have you ever had a time where your old phone almost slipped out of your hand?
3) Reachability is a bit iffy to use on the Max than it is on the 7 Plus. If you'll be relying on it, might have to get used to it.

Biggest thing (for me) is if you don't mind using two hands, then sure, go for the Max.

I was initially dead set on the Xs but my wife convinced me otherwise...on points that doesn't relate to actual usage sweat.gif I believe those things are superficial and aesthetics can be adapted to with time.

Main thing to consider is, can you live with a large phone? If you've done well enough with the 7 Plus, I don't personally see a problem with the Max. Take a stroll down to the store again and play around with the two phones. The hype should have died down slightly for you to have more time checking it out.

dear all,

any idea when apple pay can be use in malaysia?

paid so premium but cant use this feature felt like very disappointed.
*
Technically, it can be used in Malaysia. Just not with our banks laugh.gif

I think it's more of a BNM issue...since the infrastructure is there, and they allow Samsung Pay. Or on a more optimistic note, it's just a matter of time?

-----------------------

On a side note, I thought I'd have real problems with moving away from Touch ID. I'm quite (happily) surprised that Face ID works just as well, if not better. The only problem is checking for notifications when the phone is on a table whilst working. Can't quickly unlock without having to lift the phone.

For all other usage, I personally find the Face ID to be superior to Touch ID. It could even verify my face that was mounted to the car dock on the centre console. That's almost a 45 degree angle. Must say I'm impressed.

Half the time I don't even realise that it's there coz it unlocks so seamlessly.

God I sound like an iSheep now

You can always go to notification settings and set show preview as always...
*
I could...but sometimes I get nosy fellas trying to read over my shoulder. So I'd rather keep it as it is. Lol.

Just that with Touch ID it's easier to check the message without having to lift the phone and make it obvious that you're actually checking the phone. Especially in meetings.

Minor inconvenience is outweighed by how much more seamless my phone-using experience is now though. YMMV I suppose.

I know I've read that some people hate Face ID with a vengeance laugh.gif

You can actually press the power button to view your messages without unlocking the phone.
*
Since both you and devil666 both have said this, I guess I'll give it a go. No need to press power button too. Just tap the screen! biggrin.gif

Want to check with you guys for some recommendation of tempered glass for Xs Max.

Check out sakurazz in the garage sales. He's selling the HODA with promotion now. Buy a case and get the TG at 20% off.

-----------------------

Anyone here using Apollo app? Seems like my haptic feedback is much, much less than my iPhone 6S Plus. On the usual stuff, like 3D press it's normal. Just on the other things...it seems really week.

Is this an isolated problem? Seems to be a software implementation issue by the Dev.

That is another way. Never turning back to fingerprint sensor anymore, even if Apple comes with on screen FP like Oneplus 6T.
*
Well if they do develop on screen FP it would be awesome. Best of both worlds. I can unlock whilst having the phone flat on the desk. I would be sorely disappointed if they did it at the back though. Might as well just use Face ID.

any retail store selling transparent casing for xs max? went to ninjaz ss15 but they dont have much yet
*
I went to Loop at Hartamas and they have a few. Celcom outlet at OU also has two.

Transparent casing is a lot easier to find compared to smoky ones. I personally like Ringke but someone mentioned it scratched his phone's S/S band. So YMMV.

Also remember someone saying the shop in Sunway Pyramid having a huge variety of accessories.

Anyone here took the Phone Care plan with Celcom?
