i created 4 partition

1 = main OSX partition
2 = backup partition (personal files)
3 = windows partition ( i will clear this partition later ..no need windows space in my mac )

4. = windows partition ( same thing like no. 3 )

good practice ===> the main OSX partition needs more space , in order the system to use the swap , incase needed by machine .

for that .. i just remove all the files within the partition

keyword = boot the Mac using CD , then use Disk Utility to do the re-partition ...that's all

My 2-sens :

2. Ext HD1 - 250GB - 2 partitions (one for other files and imac bckup, the other for jobs backup only)
3. Ext HD2 - 250GB - 2 partitions (both for music - different genres)

if its a notebook harddisk, then I'll just keep it all to a single partition. the penalties when copying or moving files between different partitions on a slower disk can be a big big pain.

but for the faster desktop harddisks, then the partitions would depend on the disk size lar.
