Hi all, not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but i have some questions on the QX6700 overclocking with the asus commando mobo.

Ive recently had many attempts to oc my qx6700 but none have been very successful, the recent 2.8 (280x10) ghz was rather stable...with 1:1 fsb memory clock speed at 1120 mhz (1066 mhz is my memory's stock speed)

tested orthos for an hourish and its stable but the temperatures are kinda high... 75-85 ish celcius on each cores (using core temp) on load and 65-70ish on idle
asus pc probe on the other hand showing 60-65ish celcius on load and 45-50ish on idle (wtf difference?)

i tried to push it to 2.9 or 3.0 but it just crash/bluescreen/unable to boot up... a few 2.9 attempts was "somewhat" successful, but orthos is giving me errors, so i doubt it would be stable to run with that clock speed. at the same time, on load each cores was running on 95-100 celcius
and pc probe showing 65-70 celcius, thats rather.... horrible i have to say.

any idea on the heat issue? or its my vcores/other voltage settings too high? im using a big typhoon VX as cooling with the thermal paste that comes along with it.

basically im trying to push for a stable and not insanely heated processor that runs at around 2.9 or 3.0 clock speed. appreciate if i can get some advise/help/guidance on this. (im a total newb in overclocking btw, first time attempts, and on my new expensive rig XD)

ive set the vcores to 1.5 still want to increase?

after digging through this forum a bit i just realized i noobed on the vcores and its a lil too high that whats needed... causing unnessesary heat...

but my fsb i run at 300, 10 multiplier... guess that still isnt right... so basically pump more on fsb and lower multiplier to achieve 1:1 fsb/ram ratio?

maybe vcore issue, set too high and causing a lot of heat problems.

and yeah im trying to go for a 1:1 ratio, thing is my ram default clock speed is 1066 mhz and its quite a waste if unable to get at least that, but im also trying for 1:1... so yea atm running on 1:2 as beastx pointed

beastx: umm if fsb333mhz is not possible then how ur pushing for over 400 and actually running at 370mhz currently? let me know please

and whats the multiplier do actually, besides being the multiplier to the fsb and resulting the end clock speed of the processor (thats all i know bout the multiplier currently)
