Hi, not sure if this is the right place to ask. assuming my porch, i want to knock down the centre pillar and extend it to the side to widen it. How do I make sure the middle part is strong enough? Currently my contractor ask engineer to estimate and looks like i need to build extra 2 pillars at the back area of the whole car porch area it seems....
