ONU only LAN 1 Port is the only one has traffic.

The rest from LAN Port 2 - 4 don't have traffic aka line.

Thanks.

Hi. last year got new time connection and I was provided the new HG8145V5 but some settings specially the dns cannot change. Since I work from home and sometimes got vpn/intranet issues, our IT ask me to test different dns settings they provide to troubleshoot the issue. I want the settings to be on the modem/router since I use 2 machines (1 desktop and 1 laptop) for work so I rather not change dns settings manually in windows and have them removed again when I work from another location or from the office.

I have a friend who has HG8240H that he is not using anymore (also previously used with TIME)

Questions
1. Can I borrow his onu and use it with my connection?
2. Do I need to call time to setup anything?
3. Can I set it up myself without calling time?
4. Should I just call time and setup my HG8145V5 to bridge mode and I control my network using my own router?
5. If option #4 do I need special router or normal one with option for pppoe settings will work?

Basically I want to use his modem/onu/ont and have my own separate router to handle things on my own I just need the connection to time's server. Basically my time connection I don't use the phone.. I just basically use it for internet

Another reason for changing modem and want my own router to setup my network is because they are hijacking the dns

Any information will be appreciated.

I think 4. is the best option to go with, since it's the stock ont/router combo that hijacks dns.
bridge mode it and use own router, anything pppoe should work

yes. the IP address is still valid and can use wifi (or LAN port) with the credentials under the ONT to log in and disable
*
Hi I can't seem to access the ONT now but I can still see the wireless networks from the ONT but there are exclamation points indicating there is no internet connection

yup cause it is in bridge mode. Once you connect to that wifi, use 192.168.100.1 to get to the login page. just make sure you disable the wifi you are on last (2g or 5g)

yeah fixed it forgot to update here. thanks

I'm finding that twitch is loading slower than usual.
normally no problem handling 1080p60 streams but now can barely handle 720p
*
I also am having this issue since yesterday. youtube is fine but twitch is slow.

I also noticed some sites are very slow to load compared to others.. I normally window shop yahoo auctions Japan and speed have had no issues until recently.

Anyone having issues with port forwarding not working

setup

1. time device in bridge mode
2. have my own router to handle PPPOE, DHCP and Wireless

If I remember correctly it was working before, I move to a different house and asked time to move my existing subscription, after that port forwarding is not working anymore

Update on my inquiry after further investigation.. seems like Time Internet is on double nat

based from whatsmyip.com my ip address is 161.142.146.xxx range which shows it is owned by Time

but my router shows my ip range is 100.67.104.xxx with gateway 100.67.96.1

Don't know if it's because of my area (where I moved last December)

Guess i'm fk'd

are you on 200Mbps? you're on double nat

just ask customer service to move you to public ip
*
I'm on the 500Mbps plan but I think they gave free upgrade so I think it's 600Mbps plan now

Is that possible? Request to be moved to public ip? How long does it usually take?
