You guys feel a difference in 100 mpbs and 500 mbps for gaming?

Will the ping be the same with 100mbps and 500mbps?

I have 500 mbps and was thinking about saving some money and downgrade to 100 mbps.

Not sure if its worth the RM39

I've downgraded from 500 to 100mbps. The ping in game (dota2) does not changed and maintain the same as previous around ~9ms to singapore server.

In my case, I won't notice any differences except for downloading or torrenting. Btw my house internet is only for 3 ppl use.

Hi, you may upgrade your own if stock router doesn't suit your needs.

Thanks.

What if playing in servers in US? Does internet speed affect ping?

Can't comment on that since I didn't play any game on US server.

But I doubt that 100 vs 500 Mbps will make any differences since 100 Mbps itself is plenty for gaming alone. Ping latency should be more important because of the geographical distance

So, if the server is further then 100mbps and 500mbps will have a difference in ping? Or is it still about the same for gaming?

Rough analogy to help explain..

Car A... Can drive at 100km/h max.
Car B... Can drive at 500km/h max.
Distance to travel is say 50km away.
Minimum travel time required to arrive safely and early is 1hr.. More than enough for both cars going at full speed. But wait, all that speed won't matter if both cars are stuck in the same 2hr jam. Think of the jam as Latency.

QUOTE
Latency, measured as ping, refers to the average total time that it takes your gaming device to send data to the game server, and back to your device. Latency is measured in milliseconds (ms) so if your ping is 100ms then it takes 100 milliseconds for your computer to respond to a request from the game server.

If you factor in usage and network load, then it may be affected by speed.

Under 0 load situation, both 100 and 500Mbps should have the same latency.

But it would be quite hard to saturate a 100Mbps Internet connection at home too.

Yes, Ping/Latency is the same for both.

TIME has been down since approx 10.30-45 in my area, Subang. There's no news whatsoever regarding this outage. Is anyone else affected?
