Hi guys, after doing some research ... learning a few stuff from the net .. looking at galeries here ... i think it's time i put it to the test smile.gif

I've decided to get Nikon D40 from ebay ( as im in aussie now ) ... just need to get some advice on what to do as a new DSLR user :

1) How to check if the camera is alright? As in not damaged during the delivery. As long as it takes picture sucessfully then it should be ok ? Check out for dead pixel ? lol .. anything like tat ?

2) After i get the camera .. what is there to do initially ? I think we need to format the memory card first is it ? How to format ? and is there anything else to do before we can start snapping ? BAttery need to charge 8 hours or something ?

Any other advice for 1st timers are welcome please smile.gif And hopefully i can start a gallery and join you guys soon hehe

Well, I guess...

1) The packaged shouldn't be altered, plastic bags shouldn't be opened if sealed. Box must be in good condition.

2) Not necessary must format. If you buy any new card from the shops, you can use it immediately. U need to format only if you want a empty card.

3) Yeah, battery is advised to be charged for about 8 hours.

Just point and shoot and learn!

It's not that bad. I ordered a couple of stuff off ebay and so far nothing went wrong yet. Just make sure the person you're buying for has excellent feedback. The last thing powersellers want is a negative feedback and if your item comes in damaged, ask for a refund or threaten with a negative feedback.

i've used ebay too when i was in UK
but not for something costing rm2k !!

why don't u ask a friend in msia to buy for u in msia and courier it insured to aussie, i think that's safer than buying from a stranger in ebay

better COD i say...
or at least ask someone nearer to the seller to check on ur behalf..
i admit its really tempting to save a lot of money from online purchase but beware of the consequences yaaa..

but then again...maybe aus courier service is much better than msians'.
ive bought a handphone online (nz) before and it arrived safely.
but until it arrives, i cant sit still.
worried a lot.

took a risk there and hoping not to take any unless i have to.
