Oh crap what u just asked is gonna take a lot of explanation. I suggest u do yr own research coz I did mine too n I fairly know what is this n that lol. U will learn more abt it when u start modding yr car's ICE.
Stuff like tweeters are used to boost treble in yr car n in some cases, its built onto yr 2 way speakers which are also used for treble.
Then there's 3 way speakers which will boost mid range bass n its essential tat yr car has it if u want to have yr music played out in a correct manner.
Moving on there's the subwoofer in which u obviously know what its for.
As for powering it all, u will need an amp. An amp's use justifies its name. U will need it when u have a sub. There's more to an amp n how many u need when u start fitting more subs into yr car or u want to control the bass lvl of yr sub n that's gonna run deep if u wanna know more =p
Abt wires n all, its up to u whether u want the normal kind of wires or the high lvl kind which can be fiber optics which *phew* are really exp.
But of course what I said is all in layman's terms lol. There's the monobloc n all the others that come into play when u wanna go high end.

tweeters, mids n subs all hav individual jobs. the idea is to split up the sound frm ur music usin a crossover to specific speakers to reduce the stress on a speaker n for increased accuracy due to the different frequencies. tweeters are small n light so they react better with high frequencies whereas mid are much bigger n heavier so are more suited to play vocals n midbass.
