I hate tiles so yes laminated flooring for me.
You got no idea how much I hate the grout lines. Seriously if possible don’t ever do tiles. They are okay for bathrooms

if properly installed, with the right cement, right gapping, should last forever

This. In Malaysia, a lot of contractors give sloppy work because of poor skill or worse, cutting corners.

Laminate give a funny feeling when u step on it. After a while will get used to it. Cannot have water spilled and left unwiped.

But I went ahead with laminate. Thick ones. Coz so much nicer. Gives expensive house feel. Laminated whole house.

tiles for super easy maintenance and more durable than laminated floor. Waterproof, and doesn't break or scratch easily from sharp or heavy furnitures.

But if you want both, then tiles for living room/kitchen while laminated floor for bedroom/dining area.

Tile is not super easy maintenance. The white grouting between tiles will stain and stays yellowish. Need to use chemical to whitened it but will get dirty probably in a week. Laminated floor, not even need to mop weekly and still look shiny. It will not even fade under sun. Trust me. smile.gif

Normally houses come with tiles. So, if you use the provided tiles, no extra cost. However, if you want to change tile, knocking out the existing tiles and replacing with new one I believe is more expensive than laying laminated floor on top od existing tiles. No need thick laminated wood because the base is already tile. Just need to lay sound proofing foam underneath. The thick laminated wood is more for raised wooden platform.

Laminated flooring ca go even around RM4 when on sales.

Me too. My whole house is laminated except for bathroom only (yes, including kitchen) laugh.gif

I dislike dirty grouting and another main reason is I dislike cold tile under my feet. smile.gif

Now laminated floor > tiles. smile.gif Thanks all. My house takes around 2 years to VP, so I still can decide what to pick for my floor before moving in. smile.gif

laminated flooring, I got mine done....can see the edges start to bulge up a bit...not so seamless as new (4 year old). Depends on quality you may need to change them every 10 years or so. Tiles if its undamaged you don't have to change at all.

i just did my home renovation, ground floor tiles and first floor laminated flooring.

Tiles : Pro - durable and water resistance, make sure you buy good tiles so that the surface wont break off even if you drop a hammer on it.
Cons - more expansive and required good workmanship, i can feel that some of my installed tiles are uneven.

Laminated Flooring -
Pros : Cheaper and minor uneven flooring can be solve by additional rubber padding
Cons- non water resistance, a few piece of the floorings was already damaged because i forgot to close off the windows and rainwater soak on it for one night.

2 storey house? Tiles downstairs, especially for kitchen. I mean kitchen and vinyls don't go well at all, spill some shit and your floor is konlanfirm gg.

Laminated for bedrooms is fine though.

Depends on budget. I quite like laminated flooring.
My house tiles are alright just they are 1x1 and yellowish in color (that's what you get when your developer's are Taiwanese with zero sense of color coordination)
If budget is tight then maybe only change for the rooms. (Cos most of my bedroom's built in furniture are assembled on top of the laminate flooring.
