I would like to know if it would be possible to get a check up relating mental health at Government Hospitals in Malaysia.

If so, then what and how do i register myself? Like what should i fill in the form when they ask "what I'm having troubles with"?

Also, how much would a check up cost? Just wanting to make sure that I'm getting all the right facts before going to a hospital.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond, for even reading. I'm a secondary school student, so I'm very sorry if my questions seems idiotic or frustrating in a way.

Depression is a serious and real problem. So there is nothing  idiotic about it. You can start off by going to the outpatient section and then they can refer to the more specialized departments if needed.

I see, thank you very much for your response!

If your age is less than 18 years old(based on date of birth): you need your parent/guardian to accompany you regardless of any visit(private/government).

1. Government Health Clinic --> referral to Government Psychiatric Clinic
I would recommend you to go to government health clinic and get a referral letter to Government Hospital Psychiatric clinic.

If you are studying in a government school : it is totally free for all followup and medications(provided you hand over a letter from your school stating that you are a government school student).
2. If you want faster option : Go to a private GP -->> referral letter to Government Psychiatric Clinic
You need to pay at Government Psychiatric Clinic: RM 30 for first visit and RM5 for subsequent visit. Medications are not included.

3.Walk in as a full paying patient at a government hospital psychiatric clinic(not all hospitals would offer this option)
RM80-200 first visit, medications are not included

4.Go to private psychiatrist
More than RM200/first visit, medications are not included.

Do not follow non-sense advocated by other /k. If you have major depression : you need to consult a psychiatrist.

have you talk to your parents about your problems?

if your parents do not understand, try reaching out your elder relatives.
*
My parents don't really believe there's anything wrong with me. They tend to refer my worry as "drama", so I've been bottling up most of my problems from years prior.

Unfortunately, i don't have any relatives living in my area. All of them live in a different state actually. I'm also hesitant to ask for their help because I'm anxious if they would think I'm being dramatic as well.

Son, if you are only a secondary student, talk to your school counsellor.

As you are still a minor, any treatment cannot be done without your legal guardian approval.

Your school counsellor will access your situation and inform your legal guardian and advice them on the next steps to take.

Talk to your legal guardian or siblings about your needs and feelings
*
Hm, I see. However, the main reason i posted this is because of my parent's lack of support. So, i guess i should talk to my school counselor before doing anything rash.

Thank you for the help!

Dunno whether ts is trolling or not, but if you are serious, just go to the nearest kk and start telling them your prob. They will ask questions regarding symptoms of depression and after some examination, they will refer you to the nearest psychiatric  clinic if they deem u fit the criteria for major depressive disorder

I can ensure you that i am very much serious about this. Thank you for your response! It helps a lot.

You can't cure depression with drugs and chemicals
*
Haha, well I'm hoping to not need to go as far as using drugs to help with my problem. As I've heard that drugs (antidepressants) can cause a lot of side effects and the withdrawal from it could be a pain.

If you're ill,  whether physical or mental,  go seek help.

There's no shame in trying to get well.

Many msians think depression can be cured by just pulling yourself up or just shaking it off. This is not true.  Clinical depression has a physical element that affects your mind.

Do everything you can to help yourself. If anyone laughs at you or denigrates you for it,  they are just idiots whom you should rightly ignore.

Thank you very much for your kind words. It really brightened me up a bit to hear/read this!
