He is the cog that makes City tick. There was already an asterisk next to MC's tag as favourite during pre-season that it hinges on Fernandinho being healthy through out the season.

Maybe we should thank Mou and Woodward for stealing Fred right under Pep's nose too. smile.gif
*
Looks like missing the buy of Jorginho is hurting them.

Mana Charlie Adam?  tongue.gif
But both should be moneyball purchase under Comolli, all hail Comolli tongue.gif

Oh ya Jorginho too. But from the way he plays at Chelsea, different type of player from Fernandinho, but should be an upgrade on Stones.  smile.gif
*
Pep thinks Stones is VVD. Play at No.6 ????? laugh.gif

I think what's more important than the lead is that MC have shown weaknesses. Hopefully teams would be far more prepared to take them head on going forward. Spurs on the other hand have shown maturity this season.
*
Spurs squad is very thin.
Now that they have qualified for the 1ast 16 in the CL, let's see how this squad will manage the fatique levels of the players. Think they also had the most players in the WC.

if only he can perform consistently like napoli match..

no offend.. watch the replay n see how useful he was

YNWA
*
Hey

You cannot blame him for performing as such IF those were the instructions from the boss???

It seems Klopp took a very pragmatic approach to the game. Those 3 would normally fight like tigers for the ball. But notice in the 1st half, they were happy to stay off the ball.

We never know what is the instruction from the manager like when to press, where to press, who to press. It is much more complicated than pressing every single ball.
*
Exactly. However, from the playing style of the midfield, it seems they were not pressing. Just keeping their zone secured.
This is in comparison to last year's CL matches where we pressed the hell out of them

My grouse is Klopp was TOO respectful. The City defense could have been got at. It's not tight. Especially with Kompany and LaPorte at LB

well if there is better option why not  and if god know is the boss instruction

no doubt on their fighting spirit and its proven

quality is different thing
*
Kieta and Fabino are different players from Hendo. Playing this miserable MF of Hendo, Gini and Milner is to be miserly with the space in front of the defence. These 3 will not venture too far forward willingly.

dont forget salah shot saved by ederson. for the rebound ball, i heard from commentator it only 1.4cm (not sure if i heard wrongly).

seem like nobody mention kompany tackle on salah...stud up and reckless, worthy of a red but the ref thought otherwise.
*
11 mm...…...difference that could have been 1-0 to us.

Kompany's tackle......last man and dangerous. Should have been off for two types of fouls!

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 4 2019, 11:28 AM)
This year, Kloop's Liv plays a different style.
Last year, all gun blazing, but goal leaking as well. May be too much gegenpressing, and may lead to losing team shape that vulnerable for defence and tiredness towards the end of game.
This year, more tighter.

No coincident that this year, goal against is 10 until so far, the best in the league.

You can't win the league or cup with a leaky defence.
*
Don't forget the additions to the defence, Alisson and VVD. In fact, the addition of VVD in Jan 2018 already improved our stats.

However, as I mentioned, Klopp gave too much respect to City. You have attack City to have some sort of result. Ask Wolves, Palace and Leicester

If Liverpool doesn't win the next game, they're going to look like fool for resting so many players.

Spurs and Manc have shown their squad depth by winning 7-0 respectively albeit a much more weaker opponents.

This is unacceptable for title challengers.
*
Oh...didn't know that the FA cup is part of the PL title challenge!

That team on paper should not lose to Wolves. Only 2 youngsters.

The rest are considered good rotation players except Moreno and Origi. Still it is not something to regret since there is a bigger prize at stake. We can still do the double lol.
*
3 youngsters. teenagers to be exact.

Read again. I said title challengers.

All the big clubs won their FA cup matches comfortably. Except Liverpool. Obviously since klopp doesn't prioritize it. Oh well. On to the next matches
*
Exactly.
What has winning the FA cup got to do with the PL title?

Ah yes, including Hoever. Still, a line up with Milner, Keita, Sturridge, Shaq, and Origi should not lose. Fabinho playing out of position but still.

I did not watch the match but I read that the desire and hunger is not there.
*
Cannot say whether hunger was lacking.

BUt, the team effort looked very uncoordinated in attacks especially. i thought Kieta and Shaq may perfrom better. But not. i suppose playing with a teenager in the midfeild is not easier. Origi and Stur did not support each other very well.

All in all, very bad team effort. But Wolves put in a full team. AND as we know, they are no smugs. So the teenagers especially Hoever did very well. Canacho was good. Jones, not so good.
