hello..i recently bought a set of component speakers and installed it as a rear speaker..my question is.. is component speakers = front speakers?im using a sony HU with 45W X 4..how many speakers can i install without using an amp?since i already have 2 speakers and 2 tweeter..does it count as 4?
izzit necessary that a HU connected to 2 speakers wud sound better then a HU connected to 4?my speakers start to 'pecah' after certain volume level..can this be eliminated by using an amp?or izzit the speakers qualty..im currently using a 170W speakers ony..whats the usual watt for front and back speakers?
i shud hav put the set of component speakers in front..im using a classic mini with zero space for speakers except at the back...im planning to move the component set in front and buy a decent speaker for the back..but cant find a suitable place to put those component speakers..do i need an amp?

1. component set is not made only to be use as front speaker no problem using them as a rear...
2. you can install 4 speakers... and the component set counts as 2...
3.i think no difference connecting between 2 speakers and 4... because the power will not move from a unconnected channel to a connected channel unless you bridge them... but then i think HU doesnt hav this kind or function... i might be wrong here...
4. 170W is RMS or max? speaker pecah sound: two possibilities involved- amp not enough power but forced to give tht much power thus guving out square waves -or- amp too much power for the speaker and the speaker is playing outside its parameters...
5. there is no usual watts on front or back speakers... but normally mass market people will wan front back equally same power; bass heads the more the better for both front and back; sq enthusiast front more than the back or rather not having a back speaker...
6. depends on your expectations... if you jus "ada bunyi cukup" then no need... but if you are trying to improve your sound system... adding amp is the way to go provided its a decent quality amp la... and your move for the component set is very well planned... if you can find the space and budget then why not...
7. finish your front part then think about the rear speakers... normally a small car doesnt need a rear speaker... because the front speaker is loud enough for the whole car...
hope this helps...

whoa..that pretty much answers all the questions in my head!thanks! im still trying to figure out where i shud put the component sets if i bring it to the front..the side doors dun relli have 'holes' for the speakers and i dun relli fancy seeing a large hole being drilled there..izzit practical to put the speakers under the seat or dashboard? i dun relli listen to 'bass' oriented songs..more to pop or oldies..so sound clarity is more important to me..the shop recommended and installed the tweeters at the back together with the main speakers..i actually agreed due to my almost zero knowledge..wheres the best place to put the tweeter anyway?on the dashboard? i will need at least another 1-2 months before i can think about upgrading..the last upgrade cost me a bomb..all dried up for now.. place for the cpmponent set... from my little experience i have tried to install 6.5" mid on door panel, kick panel, under seat, on dash... in the end found out the door is still the best place...
what you can do is take a speaker connect it in your car with a long wire and try out every possible place you can find on your car without disturbing your driving view and leg room... tht way you can find a optiumum spot to instal your speaker while(if you are lucky) not drilling a hole... need a little patients on this also...
your installer is not wrong to say the tweeter should be installed at the back because your mid is at the back... if you put it in front, imaging your bass guitar, kick drum at the back while the cymbals is in front of you... it would sound weird wouldnt it? further more... you might need to pay more for wires as the tweeter's wire need a long one from the rear to the front...
the best place for tweeter is as as near as possible to the mid but able to project the sound to create a "sound stage"... normally you can start by putting them on the dash where it is visible to you on your driver seat... from there... like your mid, look for the place and angle where you find it sound as if the sound is not coming out from the tweeter but from the "sound stage"
1 or 2 months is ok... gives you some time to plan your next step while learn more before jumping into the lion's den...
cheers...
