Does Honda ECON mode really work to save petrol? or just gimmick?

It just lowers the responsiveness of the throttle so it's not as easy to drive hard, you can emulate the same thing without the ECON mode by having a lighter foot!

It's actually quite useful for my civic 1.5tcp.
It's reduce the power during low speed make it more smooth drive.

On low speed oni. If u cruise high speed on highway, turn it off more jimat since engine no need to push hard to maintain speed.

personally from my experience (Honda CRV), ,it still helps even for highway speeds. Generally you can notice about 5-10% improvement in FC, but the a/c does not get cold so quickly and the response is very much slower
I usually just turn it off when i want to overtake people haha

I don't use it on my City. It amplifies the CVT rubber band effect which makes for lousy driving feel. The car is already an EEV to begin with.

On mostly d segment sedan that I drive, even without eco mode, that throttle is set more linear for smoother drive. Even passat 1.8 with dsg pull cannot match civic turbo pull 'FEEL'.

Ya, younger people love that 'FEEL' fast but a bit jerky go & stop pull feeling, while older people prefer much more 'SLOWER FEEL' but smoother go and stop feeling. Maybe one factor which is weight because d segment more heavy but I feel d segment acceleration mostly very very linear.

Yes, with ECON off, power delivery is more immediate thus car may feel jerky especially for higher horsepower models.
