Their 4g network were ran by themselves, only 3g rented from maxis.
*
It's technically not rent but much more complicated situation and not for all areas. In certain region like East Coast, Maxis and U Mobile share their 3G spectrum and Radio Access Network (RAN).

Oh not! Can I say so those do not have 3G or 2G umobile coverage automatic no signal?
If do so, it is almost like Unifi mobile already...

Better to watch out first their agreement with maxis. Else those who only get 3G or 2G coverage between switch to other telco...

By the way, I got saw the rate of "New U Prepaid Plan", but previously very very old rate called "U Prepaid Plan" already disappear..

So got still somebody still use the legend prepaid plan called "U Prepaid plan"?
I'm currently use "New U prepaid plan". brows.gif
*
2G agreement still in place they only serve termination notice for 3G. U Mobile claimed that there will be no coverage shrinkage due to this practice as they will cover those are with their equipment some times ago. Only time will tell how true is it.

Means that those who still using the handset which max support 3G, will habis cerita internet connections if termination for 3G.
Anyway, let's see how the deal between maxis & umobile..
Hopefully will continue renew for the agreement.
*
Doesn't looked like they will renew as Maxis didn't expect U Mobile to grow so fast and become their major competitor and U Mobile wouldn't as Maxis is likely to charge them a rate that they could barely profit.

Testing gx30 for 3 months. So far so good. But the only thing I hate so much is my battery depleted so fast using umobile data compared to celcom. I can get extra 1 hour SOT when use celcom data but umobile suck battery like no tomorrow. Connection seems okay..always get H+..Haizz...thinking to port out to digi (bigbonus rm30/month) but not unlimited..not sure enough or not for my usage.
*
Because Celcom had fast dormancy implemented and U Mobile does not icon_idea.gif

digi 4G+ can go up to 150Mbps, it depends on your LTE router as well, u must get a LTE-A router to get better speed result
*
Digi had 20MHz on band 7 now so it's no longer 150 but 225Mbps.

may i know umobile is using which telco infra? celcom?
*
U Mobile case is quite complicated. They have RAN sharing with Maxis for 3G in certain area with agreement until June 2019(definitely not west coast peninsular malaysia), riding on Maxis 2G nationwide and had their own infrastructure for the 4G.

so can I say that any area which is good reception of Maxis shall apply the same for umobile? thinking to switch from Digi due to bad reception at my condo. tested for maxis, can get 4G.
*
Not that straight forward as 3G RAN sharing is limited to certain area (what area? We don't know as U Mobile is not listed and they have no obligation to divulge that information). U Mobile doesn't share 4G at all so you really need to buy a sim card to try.

Yoodo is Celcom's company. So all their equipments are using Celcom's. I dont know why you dont get 4G+. Maybe you should also try to ask Celcom's CS on your issue.
*
He just mentioned he use Pocophone F1 which is pretty self-explanatory. That phone cut corners in LTE-A compatability to keep the price low.

Can anyone tell me the diff between the hero and giler postpaid?
Wanna port in for wifi calling.
Anyone has experience with wifi calling from overseas?

I'm at Indonesia right now and U Mobile is working as usual as if you are placing call locally. Since I'm visiting rural part of Indonesia, the internet is pretty slow and the call quality suffered noticeably.

Dont need to be that specific lor. Everybody already knew that. Also, LTE Advanced as a protocol has already met 4G requirements and many phones in the market already support LTE Advanced. That's why LTE is called Long Term Evolution. First gen LTE might not even reach the 4G requirement, but further improvements can be made to meet the requirements.

Quoted from the website you yourself have provided.

It's just that our country havent utilised LTE tech to its full potential to reach real 4G speeds as our country doesnt have enough spectrum to be allocated for cellular network.
*
Too bad our government is relatively stubborn to follow the steps of our neighbor, Singapore to shut down 2G network tongue.gif

Hi. Need some help here. My FIL use Umobile and he has balance of >500 in his prepaid account because of low usage. Is there anyway to spend this? such as
1. Purchase some other things (like digi store has this thing)
2. Change to postpaid with the credit brought over (But I read it's maximum 100??? from post before)

Any other suggestion?
Thanks in advance.
*
CreditShare
Google Play carrier billing
Apple carrier billing
Game credit

There are quite a few more ways to spend it. You could go check out U Mobile website.

Yes, you may opt-out from Video-Onz service. You can send an SMS to 28118 with the message OFF VIDEOONZ. Please note that Video-Onz opt-out option is not available for certain rate plans such as Unlimited HERO P79 and P99.

Postpaid subscribers who have opted-out from Video-Onz and want to opt-in again, can do so by sending an SMS to 28118 with the message ON VIDEOONZ. The Video-Onz data will then be assigned back in the following month.

Prepaid subscribers who disabled Video-Onz do not need to enable again as they will receive the Video-Onz data when they purchase UMI or MB subscription.

Hi Acid Head,
Im using P79 plan now. and its plugged into my MIFI router as a home internet.
Im also a old time user of Umobile.

Recently moved to new place in Subang Jaya, and I tell you the speed at night starting 10pm onwards, is like morning rush hour on Federal highway ; very slow and sometimes cannot load page.

I also sometimes face cannot even load Youtube.
My speed? at night is below 0.3Mbits / 300KBits . (Base on Youtube's Stat For Nerds) . Buffering alot. Sometimes cannot even buffer.
I use an app called Cell Tower Locator and NetMonster to see where is the base station from where I am staying, Im covered by 3 stations. Still with 3 stations still experiencing slow connection. So i had to manually check the Cell ID from my router page and if I see its that "slow" Cell ID, I reboot my router.
Me and my children are heavy users of Youtube.

Previously when I was in my old house in another part of Subang, speed was fine, no issue.
To cut the story short, I have already filed a report to Umobile, and you will know whats their standard reply.
2 weeks later, no reply, and still feeling the bottle neck.

So now I am contemplating ; whether to stick to Umobile for a while or port out. I read that they are upgrading to 4G network but my MIFI is still 3G. But still its as though their base station is running on a small back haul pipeline. Akin like hundreds of users connect to these 3 stations but backhaul connected to 100Mbits fibre pipeline.

First of all, plug the sim card to a 4G capable phone and try it out.
